Re: London becomes burning hellhole

What violent repression and what peaceful demonstrations?

Unless I've missed something big, the main issue is that the police can't/aren't doing much about the violent riots.

Or am I missing some more irony here?

Re: London becomes burning hellhole

Lol fucking no. It's because the police have quite heavily diminished powers and the government response has been a bit delayed since apparently everybody was on holiday at the same time and it wasn't until the third night of violence that it became clear this was serious enough to justify them comi...

Re: London becomes burning hellhole

It's interesting seeing the responses here. All the London/UK residents I've seen commenting on this have the attitude that it's just alot of useless chav layabouts who don't understand nor care about the world or the consequences of their actions on it seizing an oppurtunity to be stupid yobs. http...

Re: London becomes burning hellhole

I actually live in Hackney. However, the violence has been occuring quite a bit south of me, so I haven't seen anything. However, there's still been a tense atmosphere whenever I've gone outside, and all the shops shut very early. Some of my friends have actually seen looters. I think the situation ...

Re: Sonic Generations

I noticed in the underwater portion of modern CPZ that there's a periodic radar-like "ping", which I assume is similar to the classic "di-ding" the classic games gave you in the same situation. Was that in Colors or anything? It's a nice touch.

Re: "Unlimited Detail" non-polygonal game engine preview

It's bullshit, Notch confirms it. And they're just carefully not mentioning its limitations, such as the fact that it can't be animated and you need to be using lots of repeated data, and this technology isn't even new.

Without wanting to sound condescending, you might have more luck on an actual 3D forum than here.

Re: Sonic Generations

What exactly are you seeing that's changed so much other than the coloured eyes and longer body and legs that are common to all the modern versions of the characters? The squarer shoes?

That's not even a particularly good-looking version of old Knuckles considering the weird angle of the nose.

What is this gesture you're thinking of, exactly? I can't really think of any sort of gesture I consciously make when trying to get past people. I just sort of posture myself as if I'm trying to squeeze past and say "Excuse me".

Gah, that last sentence should read "Only Yesterday ("Omohide Poroporo" in Japan) is my first favourite, by the way." Goddamn edit limit.

Yamadas is my second favourite Ghibli film! It's funny you say the dub doesn't work, Radrappy, as for me it's the only Ghibli movie (or japanese thing in general) that I prefer to watch in english.

Only Yesterday ("Omohide Poroporo" in Japan)

Re: So... Portal 2

Dammit, I've been putting off playing the Half-lifes and portal properly for years (only ever played a bit of HL1 at a friend's house), but all this talk is making me want to finally get round to them. I already have too much other stuff to be wasting my time with though!

He did have it Sonic Advance 1 (don't know about 2 or 3), but I don't think it had any actual use in that game. It was definitely a niche thing in Sonic 3, but it had its uses.

It's kind of funny how the rep backtracked about the leaks a bit later. (There's an article on TSSZ that I'm too lazy to link to.) As if we're supposed to believe that he had no insider knowledge. I just hope the poor guy doesn't loose his job over it. During the chat, Tails Adventure on the Game G...

They also need to not have the regular jump sound effect play when you do the double jump.

This annoys me in the same way that the classic Emerald jingle has been used as a 1-up jingle ever since Sonic Adventure.

a much superior background music in Gigalopolis Zone than the SMS version. Wow you're like the king of bad taste. I have to agree with PPA here. The GG version of Gigapolis Zone is way better. Even though it's still fast-paced it's much more atmospheric and fitting for the night-time city theme. Th...

Regarding PPA's post, I must point out that Aqua Planet Zone also has different music (though only slightly), which nobody ever seems to remember.

Re: Guess the Sonic Generations Stages

I suppose there is also an issue of how well each stage should represent its respective game. I'm not particularly keen on Seaside Hill for Heroes. However, it could be seen to represent the feel of that whole game better than many of the other levels, even if they would've been more interesting cho...

Re: It's Dr. Eggman's 20th Birthday.

As far as I'm aware the only changes are due to the smaller screen and couldn't be helped (1st boss is much harder, GHZ boss arena is smaller). What changes are you thinking of?
