Get ready for apathy

SEGA's teasing something "huge" for their Tokyo Festival tomorrow, and Sonic's in the promo image. No details of anything yet, obviously, but in the case that this turns out to be a new Sonic game I thought it might be prudent to set up a thread for it a little early. The interesting thing is that ...

Re: Revenge of the nerds

Hey, while this thread is active, here's a little thing I've been thinking about a lot, recently: Who is Witch Cart? She's an anomaly! It's so weird to think that, in such a science/mythology-driven series like Sonic, there's just some random witch running around (well, carting around) on a largely ...

Re: Revenge of the nerds

Is there a chronology to BD's involvement with Project Shadow? I assumed it was before the Biolizard This cutscene in Shadow's game suggests otherwise. Admittedly, Doom's dialogue and what we're seeing onscreen might not match up exactly, but I think its telling that he and Gerald are facing each o...

Re: Sonic 2018

The racing game has the R from Sonic R, but then it uses cars, which is an insult to that great title. Hey! http://www.sonicworld.net/site/games/saturn/r/images/amymodel.png Seriously though, I could do with another Sonic racing game, especially one modelled after R. I'm really not a fan of the gen...

Online multiplayer is indeed very nice. Lack of Sonic 3 in any capacity and no Switch or (presumably) Mac versions is not. I'll pass, thanks!

Re: AYE DEE DUBBLEYUU

So these guys are the Scratch & Grounder successors, then? (Well, maybe Sleet & Dingo is a more apt comparison.) I'm not crazy about how they look. Do we really need more sneering quasi-villains? Part of what makes those "two Eggman lackeys" fun in any Sonic adaptation is how goofy and un-serious th...

Re: Revenge of the nerds

Naka clearly has a thing for eggs in the games he produces, as Billy Hatcher and Ivy the Kiwi? will attest to. I suppose it all comes down to the uncertainty and anticipation an egg presents - Ivo is a complicated guy, after all.

Re: Archie Sonic is probably dead

Presenting, for your delectation: Tangle the Lemur . After over 300 issues at Archie Comics, IDW Publishing acquired the rights to make Sonic comics from Sega in 2017 and are rebooting the series with a fresh #1. Starting over from scratch gives IDW and series writer Ian Flynn the chance to shake th...

Re: Sonic 2017

I highly doubt Forces will be remembered as an ‘06 or Boom-tier failure, mostly because it already isn’t. Yes, the story blows, only a few levels are any fun, and there’s so much redundancy in every aspect of the game it’s unbelievable, but nothing is broken . Historians will look upon it the same w...

Re: Sonic 2017

The 2D sections of Modern Sonic levels have gotten really, really bad. Sonic cannot precision platform with these controls, and having an entire gamemode dedicated to classic 2D platforming makes them even more redundant. This was a problem in Lost World, too, so it's obviously not just the Forces t...

Re: Sonic 3D is getting a Director's Cut

Super Mario RPG handled its platforming quite well. Obviously it was a much slower-paced game and enemy traversal wasn't a huge deal, but I never felt annoyed by the controls. I actually kinda like the original 3D Blast, and I'll play this version when it comes out. That being said, a tad more focus...

Re: Sonic 2017

Relegating Infinite's backstory to DLC and a tie-in comic exclusive to Twitter was an absolutely boneheaded decision that should not have been made. I didn't even know about the fourth comic up until I was looking at the Forces TVTropes page, and assumed that Infinite was some artificial lifeform th...

Re: Sonic 2017

What did you like about it? Quite a few things! I loved how open the level design was, especially in 3D. It always made me want to go back and see what I missed the first time around, and it helps that every level looks absolutely gorgeous. There was never a point where I didn't want to play any of...

Re: Sonic 2017

Do you get anything for collecting all the red rings? I thought that there might be some extra content considering the game ends with 00.01% of the world still belonging to Eggman , but it doesn't seem like there is. By the way, I really liked the game! But I thought the previous 3D boost games were...

Re: Has Rouge been kept abreast of this?

What I want to know is how they're going to promote the game. Demo kiosks? Sonic-themed chicken/beer combos? Your original character on a napkin? I can't claim to have ever actually been to a Hooters (it's a notable gap in my life experience) but somehow I don't think the brands mix together too well.

Re: Sonic 2017

They should dress the girls up in those Sonic costumes, but have it wear the Hooters uniform. More and more, I'm thinking that Sonic Team has to struggle with budgetary issues that never really plague, say, Nintendo's first-party developers, or really are generally incompetent (or at least their lea...

I wonder if he'll have his guns again. He'll use black-and-red wispons. Their elements are angst and despair. I love - love - how the first non-Sonic playable character in the Boost era is Shadow, not Tails or Knuckles. Now all we need is some Silver DLC and we've got Sonic 2006: Episode 2 on our h...

Wooduck's dream was an omen. Sonic Forces will finally succeed in killing this forum for good. RIP It's pretty sobering that GG! hasn't even logged in in over half a decade. Jeez, first Guru Larry and now Arlo. It's like you're all peeking at my Youtube subscription page. Re: OH YES Sonic Mania (Spoiler free thread)

I've been playing the game for about an hour or so, and it is very good, but what's really striking is that there are a LOT of bugs. Like, to the point where many very cute moments are ruined by an unavoidable death. The achievements also don't seem to be working, at least on PS4.
