Re: Super WiiHD3D+ Advance

I'm sure I can STILL do that since I live in an apartment, and I suspect most Japanese will be able to do that as well. That's only going to be a problem with you damn rich Americans with your huge mansions.

Re: Guess the Sonic Generations Stages

I hated both Melee's competitive scene and hated Brawl. Brawl just didn't have enough new content to justify the hype machine. I felt like I ended up with a really crappy Kirby game guest-starring 30 other unnecessary characters instead of a Smash Bros Game. I even think Melee's Adventure Mode with ...

Re: Super WiiHD3D+ Advance

Maybe I'm just not getting it but why would you want to play a console game several rooms away from where the console is?

Re: Super WiiHD3D+ Advance

I felt the same way at first, but then I thought, what new characters does that open up that weren't available before? Cloud+Sephroth? Master Chief? Commander Shepard? Weighted Companion Cube? The people I'd be interested in seeing are either already on Nintendo consoles or aren't video game charac...

Re: Super WiiHD3D+ Advance

A worry is how much a second controller for this thing is going to cost, considering that a current-gen controller is only about as much as a game. The video in the presentation also showed the screen being used with a stylus, which means we're in resistive touchscreen territory. I've had some piss...

Re: Return of the Heroic Amputee in 2D

It's not only interesting, but simply walking past your other player's model doesn't shoot you off in a random direction as if the bodies of both characters are made of magnetized rubber filled with helium.

This game makes Super Mario Bros Wii look like shit in comparison. That's not saying much, of course, but still.

Re: Return of the Heroic Amputee in 2D

Holy shit, characters that are from Rayman 1 like Mr. Dark and Electoons. I had assumed that all of those guys were thrown into the fires of hell after Rayman 2.

Btw, call me a spoilsport if you like, but I loved Rayman 1 and hated Rayman 2.

I kept on waiting for the "hook" that made the game interesting, but it never came. And the Tim Buckley art didn't help, either.

Re: Drawn to a very Depressing Death.

I'm almost afraid to ask what the Scribblenauts games turn out to be inspired by. You didn't see the ending to Super Scribblenauts? It's the maddened STD-caused fever dreams of a 10-year old Vatican scribe in ancient Rome attempting to compile a dictionary, and for every word he misspells the pope ...

Re: Ken Penders owns a bunch of Sonic's shitty sidekicks

Yes, the entire game was basically an adaptation of Pender's run on the Knuckles the Echidna comics. Shade, Imperatore Ix, and the Nocturnus were basically just Julie-Su, Fintevus, and the Dark Legion with their names changed. Even if they don't owe him the rights to those characters, they owe him m...

Re: Ken Penders owns a bunch of Sonic's shitty sidekicks

It is kind of fucked up how SEGA and Bioware basically took the plotline and characters he created, alter the names slightly, and didn't even financially compensate him.

Re: Power RangARRRRRRRRRRRS

They need to just end the franchise after this. No other concept is going to be able to top it, period. They are flying superpowered pirates with a robot parrot and a pirate ship that turns into a giant robot pirate. That is too much awesome for anyone to handle.

...Because when the character which is supposed to be you speaks of its own accord it breaks all fucking immersion?
See, for me, the fact my character model is an 8-year old or 16-year old blonde bishounen elf dressed like Peter Pan does that anyways.

Re: Sonic Generations

Well, excuuuse me, princess! I've found every single sidekick with the exception of Midna just as fucking annoying. It might as well save space by shifting the annoying onto the player's character model. And if you personally don't find the sidekick characters annoying, then what's the problem with...

Re: Sonic Generations

Spoiler: that "blank slate" quality is actually a deliberate part of his design That blanks slate quality is archaic in an age where most games allow you to customize your appearance. It's also kind of archaic in an age where you can actually convey meaningful emotion in games. One of the reasons t...

Re: Sonic Generations

The best and only relevant thing about it is the face, though. You could stick him in a hula skirt and wearing a scotch bonnet and the face would still be amazing. I'm just saying that Link's overall design throughout the years is nothing to write home about to anyone who has ever seen any Medieval ...

Re: Sonic Generations

That's one of the reasons I'll always prefer the toon Link over the bland, adult bishounen one. Link has one of the most bland character designs of all the 8-bit mascots who have survived to this day, actually. He looks like Peter Pan, basically - only with less personality. Even Toon Link's design...

I'd love a Mario Party compilation. None of them really had enough content on their own to make them worth a purchase.

Re: Guess the Sonic Generations Stages

Here's a statement that needs elaborating on. How is it out of date, and who hasn't thought of them as minigames? Generally there's been a push for less and less segmented level design (Act 1 Act 2 or 1-1, 1-2) into more integrated and cohesive worlds. I personally didn't really ever think of the S...

The idea of a "special" level divorced from the main game is pretty out of date, unless you want to rebrand it as a minigame or something.

I still kick myself for thinking when I was 12 that the Heroes gameplay design would be a good idea.
