Re: Question about Sonic CD/NiGHTS

I see, thank you very much. I guess I should try out Ohshima's other games then, since I liked both the surreal and unique styles of Sonic CD and NiGHTS as well as the focus on time/score attacking...

Question about Sonic CD/NiGHTS

There's something that has bothered me for a while. The director of both NiGHTS into Dreams and Sonic CD is Naoto Ohshima - but how much does a director actually do? And who plays the most important role when making a game? Also I heard Yuji Naka also greatly influenced the former game, but who of t...

Does that mean people at Gamefaqs all look like L-shaped Tetris blocks?

Also, I'd like to bring to everyone's attention the site Hardcore Gaming 101, which has some (mostly) good write-ups on obscure games.
Ahh yes, that site is great. One of my most clicked bookmarks~

Re: The Official Poll Suggestion Thread

Which old Sonic character should return (in a not ruined way unlike the Chaotix crew)?
  • Ray the Flying Squirrel
  • Mighty the Armadillo
  • Fang the Sniper
  • Bark the Polar Bear
  • Bean the Dynamite
  • Heavy
  • Bomb
  • Metal Knuckles
  • Tails Doll
Did I forget anyone?

Goldman. Because I always want to buy his game but then keep forgetting about it.

Re: What Sonic game is this?

I also "enjoyed" Shadow a bit more than Heroes. Controls are a bit better (but still too loose), enemy life bars are usually down in two hits (bigger foes aside, but that's what the weapons are for), you don't level up any more, you only have one annoying companion in a stage as opposed to two (and ...

Re: What Sonic game is this?

That is quite amazing. Now if the camera stays fixed behind Sonic and they switch the Sonic 2 spindash for the Sonic CD one and the peelout, I'm really looking forward to a final release of this. The physics really do feel like the old games. :o

Re: i can has master system on wii?

Don't you guys get the whole "Club Nintendo" thing over there? I set up my account today and started registering my VIP codes from inside all my old games. It used to be that you used your accumulated "stars" to purchase sub-standard merchandise, but they've recently set up a system to convert them...

Re: SEGA Superstars Tennis for Wii / PS2 / PS3 / 360 / DS

The fact that Alex Kidd is playable makes me forget about the rather disappointing decision to base the NiGHTS stage on Journey of Dreams instead of one of the into Dreams... levels. (Man, Twin Seeds would have been awesome.)

Re: Shorts: Phantasy Star PSP • Sonic Vocal Collection

That remastered Live & Learn is pretty awesome. And they made the totally horrible Sonic X theme sound at least a bit decent, that's an accomplishment! The Right There, Right On song however is just awful. Though I haven't played Rush yet and don't know how the original sounds, so I can't really com...

Re: i can has master system on wii?

500 - 600 points? Haha, you can often get the the original games complete with case and manual for that price on ebay. Though since I boycott the VC for being far too expensive (especially since those are just the very ROMs of the game you can get on the internet for free), and because I as a collec...

Re: Plumbers . . . IN SPACE

Also the stages lack replay value; once you've played them once, you don't really feel the need to revisit them just for fun. I have that problem with every Mario platformer; eventually I realized it's best to do every level once per playthrough. Oh, in Sunshine I often went back into the stages ju...

Re: Plumbers . . . IN SPACE

I third the Purple Coins in Toy Time mission being the best. At first I was totally shocked by the layout, but once I realized I didn't have to collect all coins it was great fun. To be honest, this game has disappointed me. The worst factor being the quasi non-existent difficulty - except for a few...

Re: What Sonic game is this?

What out-of-bounds glitch is this? I only know of two; one in Resort Island that I can consistently abuse, and one in that ruins level that only happened to me once by chance. Here is a video of it: http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=XSGZUlfB8Es (Also works the normal way round.) You mean the Regal Ruin...

Re: What Sonic game is this?

Most of the fun I had with Sonic R was when I started TAing the game and exploring the open levels for the quickest route. It was very satisfying to keep finding new shortcuts and mastering the controls. I admit that once the "perfect" route was known, the game became a bit tedious to play. (Especia...

Re: What Sonic game is this?

Never truer words spoken about the original. But I have to disagree with what you said about its Special Stages having more longevity than any of the others. For me, nothing tops 3&K's "Get Blue Spheres." Ugh, those make me sick. To quote Tails, "MY HEAD'S SPINNING". Special Stages I'd say are best...

Re: What Sonic game is this?

I wish they'd make the spin dash like Sonic Adventure again, it was perfect. Also, things like his running animation were also perfect I'd say. I didn't like SA's spindash at all - you could just use it while running and gain great speed simply by tapping the action button all the time. My favourit...

Re: Attention New Members

Mind if I ask what it is you disliked about Sonic 2, P.P.A.? Not at all. I disliked a couple of things: The fact that there are now only 2 Acts per Zone, the cartoony style of the graphics (as opposed to S1/SCD's rather surreal/awesome one), the simply annoying and often unfitting music, the spinda...

Re: What Sonic game is this?

Wow, this list is so wrong. The only thing I really agree with is Sonic CD on rank 1. The moves, stylish graphics and excellent music only add to the perfect controls, the huge and complex (some would say confusing), yet still completable fast levels and the very unique time-travel feature. Sonic R ...

Re: Attention New Members

Hello, I'm P.P.A. from TSC. I'm German, rather skilled at time attacking some Sonic games (CD, R, and Chaos in particular) and, uh, seeing as The GHZ is pretty awesome I thought it might be a good thing to also register at the forums. Short bio: My first game (ever) was Sonic 1 (when I was 3 or 4), ...
