Re: Everybody Super Sonic failing... (Team Sonic Racing)
I'm pretty stoked for this. The first two games were great, Transformed especially. I'm not sure this will beat Transformed - it set a really high bar - but if it's at least as good as the first one I'll be satisfied. What does the "Team" mean? "Team Racing Race as a team, win as a team. Use various...

-Great Battle Kukku crows like a rooster, so Crazy Penguin is right that he's a chicken. So how is Speedy such an adept flier when chickens are notoriously bad at it? He has a jetpack of some sort on the back of his body armour. https://www.spriters-resource.com/resources/sheets/100/103359.png (zoo...

Re: Get ready for apathy
It's been confirmed that the Mega Drive Mini is being made by AtGames . Disappointing, but expected. They say it'll be an improvement over the previous iterations, but they said the same thing last time, so it's probably best to keep expectations low. The new Sega Ages line is pretty exciting though...

Re: Sonic 2018
Takumi Miyake illustrated the NiGHTS story book . From the art style, it looks like he's the artist who drew all the character-action art in the JP Chaotix manual. Yasufumi Soejima's contributions remain a mystery. "Enemy Designer" and "Boss Designer" already have their own credits, so Heavy is the ...

Re: Sonic 2018
He also points out that Sharps is in fact Max (and also not a chicken which we already knew.) So does this make Max the Monkey in fact Sharps the Monkey? Mach the Monkey perhaps? It could have been an intentional name change. Since the monkey wasn't being used, there was no harm in stealing his nam...

Re: Sonic 2018
Sorry, I phrased my last post poorly. I meant I wished they had kept the style of Mighty's shoes for Ray (e.g. with 1 stripe), but just changed the colour to blue. For me, Classic Tails colour scheme worked better as the red of his shoes didn't stand out much when placed next to his orange fur. Plu...

Re: Sega Mega Drive Classics
I'd rather them just hire some YouTube Genesis composer and make new unique tracks. The PC Ice Cap just doesn't fit the stage at all, Carnival Night is okay but meanders something fierce, and Launch Base is great as a mid-game high but not as an end-game climax. I hate the PC S&K Collection tracks....

Ray's shoes are a slightly tweaked version of the ones he wore in the Archie comic series, from Sonic Universe #48 (Jan 2013) onwards.

Re: Revenge of the nerds
The military theme I suspect shows up in other less documented sources -- I vaguely recall years of birth given to Sonic and Eggman and some mention of atomic bomb origins. Some Japanese clothing tags say "born in 1947 but made for the 90's": https://twitter.com/AbelMunizJr/status/96894154244973363...

Re: AYE DEE DUBBLEYUU
He doesn't really post much about his Sega days. I asked about Tails Adventure a little while back and he confirmed that he designed the enemies. I knew it! I don't suppose he was forthcoming on what animals the Battle Kukku are based on, if any? He didn't specify. I didn't want to pester him with ...

Re: AYE DEE DUBBLEYUU
They're certainly never going to touch the pre-Flynn/Yardley Archie exclusive characters or concepts ever again. Whichever way you look at it, Archie fucked up when it came to getting their contracts in order with the '90s comic freelancers. That Gordian knot isn't worth the hassle. I imagine IDW's ...

Re: AYE DEE DUBBLEYUU
Fang's creator, who is now a toy designer, mentioned it to a fan on Twitter a few months ago (after "like"-ing his fan art). Keep in mind that he was using online translation tools: https://twitter.com/toumartcom/status/926814138927423491 In development it was named NACK. However, it means that a ch...

So these guys are the Scratch & Grounder successors, then? (Well, maybe Sleet & Dingo is a more apt comparison.) I'm not crazy about how they look. Do we really need more sneering quasi-villains? Part of what makes those "two Eggman lackeys" fun in any Sonic adaptation is how goofy and un-serious t...

Sorry to bump an old thread, but... Speaking of Tails Doll, at the most recent Summer of Sonic, Kazuyuki Hoshino revealed that he was created by Sonic R's background designer - he was originally intended to be just an obstacle you shoot on the factory stage. I guess they still had this idea in mind ...

You guys are nuts! The difference between this and Sonic 4 is night and day. I just watched footage of Sonic 4: Episode I for comparison and it's more horrid than I remembered it being. Really muddy and de-saturated, a harsh contrast with the already inherently ugly plastic sheen applied to every as...

Re: Sonic 3D is getting a Director's Cut
Yeah, a fast character like Sonic really wasn't suited to an isometric platformer. Has there ever been a really good sprite-based isometric platformer though? The sub-genre itself seems like a tough nut to crack, and immediately became obsolete with the advent of polygonal 3D graphics anyway. Super ...

Relegating Infinite's backstory to DLC and a tie-in comic exclusive to Twitter was an absolutely boneheaded decision that should not have been made. I didn't even know about the fourth comic up until I was looking at the Forces TVTropes page, and assumed that Infinite was some artificial lifeform t...

By the way, the game contains one definite shout-out to a fan-game that wasn't mutated beyond immediate recognition (some people claim that Press Garden is a heavily-modified Egg Garden Zone. I can sort of see it.) But check this shit out: https://image.ibb.co/dAYuga/motojim.png A direct reference ...

I wonder if at some point in the Mega Drive version they were thinking of making Tails a hostage who would be used to power Mecha Sonic. Sounds like it. As a kid I thought it was weird that Mecha Sonic didn't have an animal inside him like every other robot in the game does. It's a shame they didn'...
