Green, I had no idea you were a cereal aficionado too. I eat cereal about 10 meals per week, and if it were socially acceptable, I would eat it the other 11 too. I usually rotate Froot-Loops (actually the Wal-Mart kind; they are far superior to the Kellogg's kind), Honey Nut Cheerios, and Lucky Char...

Who knows what the canon is, given that the stories of the 16-bit games are almost certainly afterthoughts. The Super Emeralds do appear in Sonic Adventure, sort of. There's the tiny versions of the emeralds that you collect, but in the presence of the Master Emerald they're really big.

This link is to a patent issued in 2006 that cites work from the Sonic game. But it annoyingly has no date.

Searching for Sting International, who developed the game, indicates they existed after 1996, as they worked with Disney for a Toy Story game. Doesn't narrow anything down for Sonic, though.

I had an idea and searched around for the Sega phone number at the bottom. There's only a handful of hits, but all references are from 1993.

I remember Sonic 1 sound effects, but be warned that this is just another hazily recollected memory. I think I would have noticed Sonic 3 effects given the artwork. I'm with Silver, though. It's got to be pre-Sonic 2's release, or else Tails would be on it. Did those badniks appear in artwork much a...

I've played it. I'm almost certain it had "1991" somewhere on it. That seems kind of obvious given the artwork, but that's all I've got.

I'll be in the same place as my Dreamcast the week after next; I can probably get better screenshots if you need them. I'd be doing it through RCA cables through a TV card, which is quality-limiting in itself, but if I capture them full-res they shouldn't be too bad.

This morning I went into the building where my first class is and used the ground floor bathroom to urinate. I went to wash my hands, absently putting one of them under the faucet's detector and putting soap on the other simultaneously. I wait... and the water doesn't turn on. I try again. No water....

I'm an obsessive washer, especially after being outdoors. I have no delusions about being clean; I know the world is much dirtier than we would like to believe, but... it's not the middle fucking ages, wash up.

This Straight Dope article is illuminating.

I spent a lot of time messing around playing as Elliot and Claris. Before you get to NiGHTS, you have full reign in the 3D levels. In a sequel I would like to see that aspect used a little more in-game; it was just like a neat side-thing you could do in the original.

I haven't been excited about a video game since before Sonic Adventure 2 came out, and I have to admit, I felt a twinge of hope from a decade ago when I saw that cover.

I've never used a tablet before, but I'm going to also recommend going for a larger size. There's this girl who sits in front of me in one of my classes who takes notes on her laptop with a small tablet. It hurts my wrist just to watch her laboriously maneuver with that thing.

No one reads War and Peace as their first novel. This pretty much cuts to the heart of the discussion. Hard core video gamers (such as most of the crowd here) are clashing with casual entertainment seekers. Being annoyed at non-gamers only playing the Wii for Wii Sports is akin to jazz aficionados ...

He actually has multiple personalities, each with its own artistic style. I was disappointed we didn't get the Dadaist style for the "worst art" contest, but you never know which one is going to show up.

My father used to play my NES more than I did. I was afraid of the music in the castle levels. I was 3 and he was 39, which may have had something to do with it. Both my parents seemed intrigued by Samba de Amigo, but never played more than once. I think they first took an interest because they thou...

I for one welcome our new giant squid overlords.

That said, I don't much like the available responses. It is a badass, but do I want one? They don't allow pets in my apartment building. Granted, the giant squid could probably destroy my landlord's entire company, but where do I keep it?

Actually, Tails getting hit in the Special Stages does NOT affect Sonic's ring count, only Tails'. It DOES affect the overall ring count, however. You're right; I forgot about that... I still hate Tails for it. In other news, we're taking things a little seriously here, aren't we? Reminds me of <a ...

Hannity and Colmes was way funnier (is that still on?)

Even weirder, Tails getting hit does not affect Sonic's ring count, except in the Sonic 2 special stages (that little bastard).
