Re: Where else do you weirdos go
One or two other forums that I check up on but rarely post. I've been considering signing up to Twitter, but that's about it as far as 'social networking' sites go. The rest are a selection of video, image and news sites. It's getting to be a bit of a drag actually, especially since I haven't been i...

Re: Super Sonic Galaxy
There is another alternative to wish for - a good story with good dialogue and good voice acting. Most Sonic games miss all three, but like the 3D-vs-2D debate, it needn't be totally abandoned just because of Sega's ineptitude. Sonic Adventure was almost there!

Re: Super Sonic Galaxy
People have ragged on the scene not because it's meant to be cartoonish, but because Sega's attempt at it is weak. Some good points have been made about the animations, timing, lip sync etc., which are are more than just personal preference. Blowing that off as the whining from old-timers who can't ...

Re: Super Sonic Galaxy
You have to admire the PR guy with this game. By now repeatedly stating that this Sonic title is 'for kids' (just who the hell were the other games for?) there's now a whole lot of arguing about what sort of criticism is merited at all. Sure, the it's-a-blue-cartoon-hedgehog-what-do-you-expect defen...

There have been better Sonic plots, yes. It's not exactly a scandalous thing to point out.

Re: Super Sonic Galaxy
Yeah, but nobody seems to begrudge Sonic The Comic for doing that. Maybe a combination of the voice and script compounds the problem?

So how does it play? Are the physics less fucked than Sonic 4 or something?
Maybe the newer laptop can take it... might give it a go later.

Sonic 1 for Master System/Game Gear had one, although it was just to show your progress between stages rather than a level select.

Re: All-new 2D Sonic rolling out in 2010
The character itself is another matter, but I'm talking about the series as a whole. If they'd rather intrepret DK however they want, they shouldn't be calling it a Country game! But of course, another name wouldn't have the same power of recognition. That in particular is what really bites about th...

I'm playing Metroid Fusion again in light of the series' latest outing, and appreciating it a bit more as a result. Watching speedruns of it was also inspiring. If only these DS controls were a little more comfortable...

Re: All-new 2D Sonic rolling out in 2010
But then I did significantly prefer Donkey Kong Jungle Beat to any of Rare's offerings. Are you sure? I don't think you've said it enough times. The soundtracks of the Country games still hold up very well though - Jungle Hijinx never gets old. For a song that's supposedly beloved, it's amazing how...

I am not sold on DKCR, as it doesn't much resemble the series it's supposed to follow besides some gameplay elements. I'll miss the charm and ambiance of the originals.
I'm sure it'll sell well though, since they cleverly branded it a Country title anyway.

Oh right, URL shortener.
Anyway, despite perhaps needing a bit of work on aesthetics (clutter's the main problem) it's a real marvel to look at.

Re: Daedalus must be proud.
In a game clearly intended to appeal to any culture such as Mario, refusing to let the audience in on otherwise obvious puns and references is doing the game a disservice. In a 'pure' model like that, anybody who is not Japanese is at a disadvantage, period. Tough luck? I don't think so. It's not a ...

I concur. In fact, I don't think games should even be translated into other languages in the first place. So many English speakers are used to having their hands held. They want to understand all the moonspeak and funny letters? Let the fuckers work for it. God forbid they actually learn something.

We recieved a Master System for one of my sibling's birthdays, which had Alex Kidd built-in. We got Sonic 2 for it shortly after. There were also some friends of ours that had the Mega Drive games. All that along with the AoSTH cartoon airing a short time later ensured I'd be sticking with Sonic for...

Re: The Official Poll Suggestion Thread
Cool idea for a poll. Despite the ubiquitousness of 3D nowadays, it 's far from being as artless as some claim it to be. For me, it depends on the subject - something designed for 2D tends to look best that way, and same with 3D. That's not all though. Like Crowbar's comment about Uekawa, it depends...
