Re: Sonic ..Excursion?

What's that supposed to mean? The Adventure games are little more than a couple of sub-par(and even that's being pretty generous) games that have aged poorly. Colours and Generations had their issues but personally I thought they were pretty good games that were far superior to either of the Advent...

Re: There is a Sonic webcomic and it is ok

SuitCase hired me to copy-edit a lot of the site and shop stuff ages ago. I have nothing to do with the comic, it sucks.

What are the good podcasts?

I'm "doing" podcasts at the moment.

I've been listening to lots of This American Life, because everyone tells me to, and it's more interesting than not, but there's something irritating about it. It's a bit... nice.

Are there any game podcasts that don't suck?

Obviously when I say the plots are identical I don't mean they're identical, you fish-fondling fruitcake!!!!!! I just mean they're identical.

Re: Dinsey's Wreck-It Ralph: A love-letter to videogames

I haven't seen either movie in a couple of years, but: The Incredibles and Up both open with prologues set in a better time. A montage passes (accompanied by newsreel footage and spinning newspapers!) showing the transition of the better time to the modern day's inferior time. The protagonist then j...

Up has exactly the same plot as The Incredibles, too, even opening with the archived news footage.

Re: Dinsey's Wreck-It Ralph: A love-letter to videogames

Why should they be forced or expected to write stories with characters of a particular gender, race, or creed? This is the weirdest part of your non-argument. Putting aside the charged word 'forced' (no one is suggesting we actually legislate any of this), it doesn't seem unreasonable to ask things...

Re: Dinsey's Wreck-It Ralph: A love-letter to videogames

I feel I ought to clarify my previous point about finding Pixar too conservative. I don't simply mean it's conservative politically, which it is. It's mainly that I find Pixar conservative creatively. For all their wit and class, I find the stories very, erm, "normal". Give me forest spirits any day...

Re: Dinsey's Wreck-It Ralph: A love-letter to videogames

What does it mean to have "zero respect for political ideology"? Why do you ask if you're sexist if you have no respect for arguments for or against sexism? Do you accept that what you call a "holy war" might actually have a useful purpose? There's nothing inherently sexist about making a movie with...

Re: Dinsey's Wreck-It Ralph: A love-letter to videogames

I've never really been completely in love with Pixar for two reasons. 1. I infinitely prefer beautiful 2D animation (Ghibli, Chomet et al) over beautiful 3D animation. 2. Pixar is, to my mind, for all its cutting-edge techno-genius, weirdly conservative. They tell old-fashioned, nostalgic, backward-...

Re: Dinsey's Wreck-It Ralph: A love-letter to videogames

I was really hoping Brave was going to be the Pixar Mononoke. But I don't think it will be. I know Valve were kind of ripping off Pixar in the first place, ^ What is that implying? It clearly means "I know Valve didn't invent this style, so I'm not giving them the credit for it", you mental midget!

Re: Dinsey's Wreck-It Ralph: A love-letter to videogames

^ PIXAR isn't making this. Disney is. . I wasn't implying they were, you fish-fondling fruitcake!!! I think it's more an issue of the TF2 Heavy, Ralph, and various Pixar characters all tapping into the same base "lummox character" design and movement that animators have been using for 70 years or s...

I know Valve were kind of ripping off Pixar in the first place, but Zangief and Ralph both look and move exactly like the Heavy from TF2.

This is the video game industry. The only requisite for perceived quirkiness is a lack of space marines.

It's quirky, non-commercial and a bit shit*, so therefore meets all the modern-day criteria for "indie" and has been retrofitted accordingly.

* But look how quirky it is!
