Re: On the topic of animated fat men...
I don't really care for Futurama and I'm apparently the only human with an internet connection to feel that way. South Park can be awesome, but some episodes are complete misses. Family Guy is just okay. The Simpsons is a continually beaten dead horse carcass spraying blood and guts. They need to ac...

Re: Don't step in the Pharaoh
I check out 1up every week or so. They have great cover stories, good features, decent one-offs, and abandoned the numbers rating system years ago in favor of grades (A,B,C...) on the grounds that no one has a standard value associated with numbers--i.e., 5/10 was supposed to denote an 'average' ti...

Re: Don't step in the Pharaoh
but that they're bad at articulating them. Game reviewers are bad at articulating what a game is. Maybe the language just isn't developed enough. Maybe the medium needs to mature more before that can happen. It's very hard to describe a game experience to someone who has never played the game in me...

Re: Don't step in the Pharaoh
Part of the problem with 5 or 7 or 8 being considered average is there's a load of shovelware that never gets reviewed and never gets a numerical score. It's hard to say Deus Ex: Human Revolution is "above average" when a site doesn't touch half the games that come out and the average for the ones t...

I got this for Black Friday. I've played all the main acts and the three rival fights. I just have to beat the final boss to finish the story. *It's really easy to get an S ranking - like the first time through you can get one without too much effort on the earlier levels. *It'd be nice if they show...

Re: Don't step in the Pharaoh
I was flipping through a gaming magazine at Ralphs the other day and they had awarded batman, drakes, and saint's row a 10/10 all in the same issue. You can bet they probably gave skyrim a 10 too. This grade inflation business is getting pretty ridiculous. That poor soul who was undecided on which ...

Re: Don't step in the Pharaoh
I feel like the ship graveyard/cruise ship areas are the kind of thing that should have been DLC, but Naughty Dog doesn't believe in doing single-player DLC because they're too small to work on the next game and DLC at the same time. Something more tied into the story would have been better. Or mayb...

Re: What are you playing today?
So this thing called Sideway turns up out of nowhere on PSN. It reminds me of PS1-era platformers - dark polygon renderings with choppy camera angles and somewhat better 2D animation. And it's fairly straightforward outside of its gimmick. The generic hip-hop and urban setting remind me of Tony Haw...

This looks like way too awesome of a concept for Peter Molyneux.
It's worth checking out his twitter account too.

Re: Sonic Generations
Be that as it may, the internal music files were sorted quite neatly, with all of the main stage themes clustered together in one group. Casino Night is at the end of that group, right after Planet Wisp. Now, assuming there's no other unused music I haven't heard about (or if something wasn't done ...

How's the gunplay? I read that some people have a problem with aiming? I never had any problem aiming. It's pretty much the same as Uncharted 2 - use L1 to aim, R1 to shoot, L2 to throw a grenade, R2 to reload, L3 to zoom in when you can, you can carry a handgun and a long gun, switching weapons wit...

Re: Don't step in the Pharaoh
I finished the campaign the other night. You know how there were a slew of improvements between Uncharted 1 and 2? And that going back to Uncharted 1 after playing Uncharted 2 is pretty difficult? Well, the gap from Uncharted 2 to Uncharted 3 is almost as big of a leap as that from Uncharted 1 to Un...

Re: Sega release trailer for.. Sonic CD? What?
I'm curious about the new physics, Neo. I think in many games it would be change the way the game is changed and for those of you who know every nook and cranny of CD it would be extremely awkward to play with. But many people never got into Sonic CD because 1) it wasn't available on hardware they h...

It's been out for PSN for a couple of weeks now too. I downloaded it from Steam when they had their Sega sale, but haven't gotten around to it (like most of my Steam library). I've been preoccupied with Super Paper Mario and Uncharted 3.

I'm interested to know where Sega go next with this.Extra level expansion packs for Generations? Sonic 4 episode 2 with Classic's physics and art-style? This is most likely the next step. In one of the reviews I watched (probably Gametrailers) they made it sound like DLC levels were coming for sure...

We should move this to the news section. Sonic CD HD should have its own thread instead of posting in the Sonic 4 Episode II thread.

You can get the Sonic CD remake now on tablets when you buy a tablet from Gamestop. This particular version of the game has Tails as an unlockable character after beating it the first time.

Re: Sonic Generations
Sonic Generations seems to have achieved a level of mega-hype I haven't seen a Sonic game get in a long while. I went to my local GameStop last night to pick up Uncharted 3 (don't ask me to explain why I didn't just wait until this morning) and there were only 3 people there for it (including mysel...
