Re: Nintendo Switch & Mario Adventure
OMG MARIO IS APPROPRIATING HISPANIC CULTURE! And not for the first time! http://www.nindb.net/gb/qix/img/cameos/marioworld.png Odyssey also has the costumes from Yoshi's Cookie, Mario's Picross, NES Open Tournament Golf and Super Mario Maker. Is... is the plot of Odyssey that Bowser's trying to mar...

Re: Nintendo Switch & Mario Adventure
Latest Mario Odyssey trailer. Looks absolutely crazy... in a good way! Seems Mario now has the ability to possess enemies, people and random things like a T-Rex and a taxi. The trailer also features a vocal theme. It's pretty catchy. I also didn't expect to see Pauline in a main series Mario platfo...

Re: Revenge of the nerds
The next game released after Sonic Adventure 2 was Sonic Advance. Sonic Advance ends with Super Sonic fighting Eggman on the moon for some reason. If I were Iizuka I'd just say that Super Sonic repaired the moon in Sonic Advance and leave it at that!

More Burning Questions About The Sonic The Hedgehog Franchise Answered With each successive Sonic the Hedgehog game, fans come up with all sorts of questions about the series. Where does Sonic live? How much can you get for a Chaos Emerald? What is up with Sonic's eyes? I sat down with head of Soni...

Re: OH YES Sonic Mania
Dimps at one point made competent and innovative Sonic titles, boost to win notwithstanding. But SEGA just abused their working relationship with them, forcing them to work with tinier and tinier deadlines, until by the time they got to the portable Generations and Lost World their games were a com...

Re: OH YES Sonic Mania
There's an odd little detail to the "Blue Spheres" Chaos Emeralds that isn't mentioned on the chart. In Sonic 3 stand-alone, the second emerald is yellow. Orange is the unused one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7PgVFwsrrYk&t=6m20s In Sonic & Knuckles and Sonic 3 Knuckles the second Chaos Emerald i...

Re: OH YES Sonic Mania
That Chaos Emerald picture kind of bugs me way more than it should! The Chaos Emeralds were wildly inconsistent in the early days, until Sonic Team established a fixed design and colour set with Sonic Adventure. I always appreciated how they went about formalising the Chaos Emeralds - they had the S...

Re: Hirokazu Yasuhara on social media (kind of)
I always kind of suspected that a lot of the zones in Sonic 2 were cannibalized from individual time periods of individual zones, but I guess this confirms it. So, if I'm not mistaken, the plan for Sonic 2 was to travel to different zones in different time periods, but sequentially? As opposed to e...

Re: Sonic 2017
I just don't understand, why do this now that Sonic is decidedly unpopular with the kids and they've effectively killed off the 30+ character cast? This would've been great some 12 years ago during the deviantArt furry inflation boom. It's pretty wild to see this level of fandom awareness in an act...

Re: Archie Sonic is probably dead
Anyway I think that's pretty much the reason for his popularity on Archie, he's been a visible Sonic fan for so long that many people were familiar with him to one degree or another. And everyone seems to love those "fan turns pro" stories. The other big factor is that the comic had become a comple...

Re: OH YES Sonic Mania
Poor depth perception was a huge issue in the Advance series Special Stages. The requirement for accessing them in Advance 2 was complete and utter bullshit too.

Re: OH YES Sonic Mania
I like Sonic 1's Special Stage the most conceptually, simply because Sonic still controls like he does in main game, just with the gimmick that he's perpetually rolling. The Special Stages in the Game Gear/Master System Sonic 1 were even closer to the main game, since it was all springs and bumpers,...

Re: Sonic 2017
What's really noteworthy is that this won't be released until the end of 2017. Sonic Lost World was released in October 2013. Sonic Team's last 4 year Sonic gap was between Sonic & Knuckes and Sonic Adventure. And I wouldn't at all be surprised if they were working on this at the same time as Lost W...

Re: Sonic 2017
I think what a lot of people are missing is that unlike Sonic 2006, the ruined city isn't a grey dystopian hellhole. The ruined buildings have pleasant pastel colours, there are still trees around - it all looks rather like Generations' City Escape. Why would you put pastel colours and trees in an a...

The colourist is Matt Herms. He's been working on the Sonic comics for a few years now. Sonic the Hedgehog #288 begins a four part story also set in the "classic era". Whether it will connect with "Mega Drive" remains to be seen. http://segabits.com/blog/2016/06/28/archie-comics-reveals-sonic-the-he...

Mini interview: http://www.previewsworld.com/Home/1/1/7 ... eID=176821
Ian Flynn: We’re doing a special Classic Sonic story! SEGA is putting a lot of emphasis on the Classic Era’s style, so we’re doing so in kind. And Mega Drive is just the start of what we’ve got planned.

Re: Sonic Mega Drive
They rebooted the comic continuity after the first Sonic/Mega Man crossover, in response to the Ken Penders lawsuit. As it currently stands, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and co are mostly the same as they are in the games - no family members or complicated backtories. Older game characters that are no lon...

Re: Sonic Mega Drive
I'm impressed that they modelled the cover - logo and all - after the Japanese box art. Most of the audience won't even get that it's an homage. It's interesting that Tyson Hesse's Sonic is based more on the Sonic CD animations than the official artwork. It's long been my favourite depiction of Soni...

https://twitter.com/HG_101/status/695704152337465344 The plot thickens! The lyrics check out - with references to brothers "different as red and blue", and a line about moving at the speed of sound and spinning round. It makes me wonder if the game had any other music that was repurposed. But what r...

Re: Sonic 2016 Rumours

I know no one really cares and I wouldn't normally have bothered posting it but it seems to feature a bigger roster this time round with the barrel well and truly being scraped with iconic Sonic characters playable such as Eggman Ne...

Re: We few, we happy, we Smash Bros. in arms.
I guess it's just that Sakurai is a fan of the Fire Emblem series, and it has a lot of protagonists to choose from, unlike more popular series such as Metroid. That, and the fact that a Fire Emblem game needs a bit more of an extra push than a new Pokémon would, so an appearance in Smash Bros is gre...
