Re: Sonic Generations
I wonder if he remembers how well Sonic Adventure 2 Battle sold for a third-party Gamecube title, even though it was released long after Sonic's 10th birthday.

Re: Wii Suck
I actually thought there was a lot of replay value. Sure, it wasn't quite the same as any of the preceding games, but the levels were very tightly designed and the extra challenges were a nice addition.

Iwata is the master of making Sakurai coming back to a franchise he really shouldn't keep coming back to. I'd love to see what the guy could do with original IP; Meteos was great.

Sold? No. Given out? Eh, do the missions in Mario Kart Wii count? Or the snapshots in Brawl?

Re: Super WiiHD3D+ Advance
What is surprising about having to be in proximity to the machine? The Wii remote got pretty good range, I wouldn't be surprised if it was that good.
In other news, the 3DS Virtual Console has an explicit load/save savestate feature, so you can fix mistakes whenever you want!

Any DSi stuff I should get with this? I stuck to my Lite and kind of skipped the whole camera thing until 3DS.

I wouldn't include it in the Unleashed-era stuff, either. To me, Classic = Spin Attack, Adventure = Homing Attack, Modern = Boost.Crazy Penguin wrote:I don't see why Sonic Heroes would be included as a Dreamcast era game.

They probably picked it because it could look cool in stereoscopic. Of course, so would Modern Sonic running in that head-on perspective Iizuka mentioned back when the 3DS was announced.

Re: Sonic Generations
I'm not to up-to-date on the marketing here; does Sega keep implying that there are 3 distinct eras (Classic/Adventure/Rush) despite there only being two characters representing them? I could see why that would cause problems.

There are two Blazes, one in each universe. Parallel universes anyway, might as well go the whole mile with that cliché.

Re: Guess the Sonic Generations Stages
Just because the themes of the levels are based off of Heroes/Unleashed/Colors (and even Shadow/06, but that's a risky move) doesn't mean the level design is. I'd certainly like a go at a traditional platformer version of Egg Fleet. That being said, I feel like the balance will be skewed toward the ...

This looks interesting, but I agree that it very much looks like they're just doing this because the media perceived the character design as being the main complaint of Sonic 4 Sonic 4 came out last summer. I thought it was 1 Play Coin = 100 Steps in the pedometer, max 10 per day, max 300 saved at a time. But if you got 24 from walking in one day, I have no idea.

Re: The DS gazes also into you
Nintendo hasn't implemented Steam/XBLA/PSN-like handles because they want to protect the childrens (this doesn't stop them from creating StreetPass...), but luckily, this time around, you just need to do it once. From then on, your friends are all referred to by their hardware's name.

I got it today. Pretty cool, although more for the camera's augmented reality features than the 3D, which is still pretty cool. Reminds me a lot of the Gameboy Camera, only more user-friendly. Are we doing the Friend Code passing thing now that it's system-specific instead of game-specific? Mine's 1...

Also, in the scene right before The Last Way, Black Doom speaks as if the Emeralds aren't necessary for Chaos Control itself, just make it more powerful:
The Emeralds amplify the space-time control powers of Chaos Control.

Re: Archie Sonic Reboot
Heck, in the original comics, don't they even have a different number of fingers? My memory is hazy, but didn't they even try to explain that? There being a difference between 4 and 5 fingered mobians? Just from fandom osmosis, I'm pretty sure they made that distinction for humanlike characters, bu...

He's able to do his Chaos Control-based moves in Sonic Battle without any Emerald, saying its because of his love for Maria or some melancholy crap. Maybe it was that?

Really? Silver/SoulSliver seemed to be more popular from what I recall, due to, as the kids on the playground say, "Ho-Oh looks gay".
Also, Mt. Mortar is technically optional in all versions of the game (you can surf right by it), but I see what you're getting at.

I haven't touched Pokemon since silver(gbc) and I'm seriously tempted to pick this up. Should I go for it? The main thing holding me back is the pokemon for this generation look FUCKING TERRIBLE. Re: What are you playing today?
Pokémon Black. It's really nothing new, but the battles move faster and there are some nice aesthetic touches. The big problem is, of course, the lower screen being useless if you're not doing the battery-sucking (and pointless in Americca) wireless search mode. They could've at least put a button f...
