Re: Sega release trailer for.. Sonic CD? What?
I would have bought a port or a remake, but I'm not touching a hack. I was actually coming to terms with the alternate physics if they were just optional, but now Tails? There's merit in the Japanese's aversion towards hacks on the basis that these could be considered an insult to the original deve...

Re: Sega release trailer for.. Sonic CD? What?
A couple of people at Retro assured me that this version will have your choice of both CD's original physics or the Genesis trilogy physics. I should hope the latter is optional, What, you mean, like you just said you were told they would be? I should also hope you didn't stop reading the post at t...

Re: Sega release trailer for.. Sonic CD? What?
A couple of people at Retro assured me that this version will have your choice of both CD's original physics or the Genesis trilogy physics. I should hope the latter is optional, as not having the physics the game was freaking designed for would (to put it nicely) be like stealing the engine out of ...

Re: Sonic Generations
And they've got the Sonic model all wrong. He's too cute and dumpy, too mid-90s CG. If they're going for a classic look, I'd have preferred Sega to model it off the Sonic 2 title screen, not the Sonic 3 one. (Did anyone like that Sonic 3 title screen?) It annoys and depresses me that the fans are b...

Would also like to note that Sonic 3's menu theme on violin is a snazzy little suprise. Wish they were that clever the rest of the time.

Re: Sonic Generations
I found direct rips of all the music from the leaks and listened to most of it. It's, um... random. Almost entirely remixes of course, but the quality is all over the place. It'll swing from Fat Sonic having great music to Skinny having a crappy flat-sounding version (Sky Sanctuary) and vice-versa (...

Re: Sonic Generations
There can't possibly be a big enough public demand to warrant including it, I've wondered about this myself, and people still keep telling me that the game turned a profit in the end - probably not much of one, but a profit nonetheless. I haven't bothered to ask what the sources are on those sales ...

Re: Awaiting your orders, miss Jade
Speaking at an exclusive Ubisoft dinner, Ancel stated that BG&E2 is far into development but is currently targeting a release on the next generation of consoles (successors to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 which have not yet been announced). Ok this has little to do with the site, but I just stumbled upon it: Gibbon's Carnival Night barrel picture is on TVTropes. Gave me a laugh.

Or people are thinking too much into it. Either way, anything bundled with a Monster Hunter release is going to be a success in japan if nowhere else.

Re: Sonic 4 Episode 2 Not to Come until 2012
On the old museum page, Gibbon described the game as (more or less) a pile of bizzare ideas that don't get along very well. Very little about Chaotix seems to have been thought through, and so it really is more a novelty than anything else because it's such a mess. It's pretty, has some good music, ...

For her this entails avoiding all platypusses and trying to rectify absurd traffic patterns on the Cross Bro...

Re: Sonic 4 Episode 2 Not to Come until 2012
You forgot this gem: Patrick Riley was there, and he has a message for you, Taxman. Shut up. His words. I asked him about the S2 spindash switching and he said that feature could be taken out before release if it's found to break the game, and explained features get cut all the time during developme...

Re: Sonic Generations
The fact that a re-release of a 1993 game is getting so much attention sure speaks lots about Sega's track record. It's neat and all, and I'm glad Taxman ended up being this successful, but a part of me rather wishes the Retro Engine was a public tool to allow people to create their own Sonic game ...

Gamestop's grasp of business sense revealed
http://www.gamespot.com/news/6330790.html When Square Enix launched Deus Ex: Human Revolution earlier this week, the publisher proclaimed that all purchasers of the PC retail version of the game would receive a free OnLive digital copy of the game as well. However, Square Enix's plans appear to have...

Huh. Well it has been a few years since he made that pitch, so i'll believe it when I see it, but I suppose likelihood of that happening vs. him toying with naive people on Retro is about equal :p Assuming for the sake of discussion that it's true, though, I worry about the potential of boneheads in...

Re: Sonic Generations
So, cheap PC port ala Gems Collection or full on SegaCD emulation? Multiple soundtrack support? Sega should know by now that this is REALLY IMPORTANT. I mean, who even knows which "masterful theme song" Joystiq's referring to? I lol'ed, but strictly speaking, Sega hasn't considered applying a shred...

I played a couple of zones and found it to be suprisingly entertaining for a Rush game. That's not saying all that much of course, but the layouts are noticeably less lame. Try it in an emulator.gr4yJ4Y wrote:I kinda want to check out the DS version sometime soon.

Nope. You're left to your own devices until the music suddenly cuts out for two seconds and the countdown starts.
