Re: Sonic "Story Comics" and other comics
Esrever, I give u biiiig kiss. Never seen those before. Awesome. Sonic was such a cute character. Now he looks like an asshole. He really was cute, but he really did have attitude, too. It's a balancing act that's never been repeated. This was touched upon in the old Sega Video Game Illustrations b...

Re: SONIC HYDRO THUNDER
The one and only time I played Secret Rings I spent around 30 minutes trying to get the homing attack to work, until ultimately giving up.

Re: New Sonic Cartoon
The disconcerting thing about Knuckles' silhouette is that it doesn't really look like a Sonic character at all. The series has had big strong guys before - Bark, Big, Storm, Vector - but they still adhered to the fundamental rule of having simple shapes for the body with tube-like limbs attached. S...

Re: The Sonic OVA is rare now
The DVD was re-released around the time of Sonic Heroes. I remember hearing at the time that it was a dub only version, which is pretty damn strange - you'd think they'd have just reprinted the original disc.

Nicole's hologram form is a lynx. Speaking of Tails Doll, at the most recent Summer of Sonic, Kazuyuki Hoshino revealed that he was created by Sonic R's background designer - he was originally intended to be just an obstacle you shoot on the factory stage. I guess they still had this idea in mind wh...

Re: Sonic Lost World - Nintendo Exclusive
I like Orbot. He gives Eggman someone to talk to when the heroes aren't around, and it makes sense that he'd have a butler type robot to perform menial tasks and listen to him gloat or complain. The humour comes from him having the clarity to see all the obvious flaws in Eggman's plans and his optim...

Re: Ripple Dot Zero
I don't like the way it controls at all. There's no sense of weight or traction, and the jump is very floaty. It's difficult to put into words, but it just feels off.

Re: Sonic 1 and 2 getting Sonic CD style remakes
Sonic 4 Ep 1 and 2 are up there as well... think it's worth the couple dollar curiosity purchase or is my life better without trying them? Sonic 4 is like a compilation of all the worst bits of the Sonic Advance games: Bland level design, a lack of interesting set pieces, an overuse of bottomless p...

Re: Sonic Lost World - Nintendo Exclusive
Sonic Adventure is the only one that had the right idea with a Super Sonic boss - running and jumping.

Re: Sonic Lost World - Nintendo Exclusive
Another interview. NWR: When you look back at the original Sonic the Hedgehog, it featured one button gameplay, run and you jump. Over time, more moves have been introduced, and maybe a little more complexity. How do you balance the additional movesets with trying to keep the game accessible and ea...

Re: Sonic Lost World - Nintendo Exclusive
The 3DS version looks surprisingly decent, but it could really benefit from zooming the camera out on the 2D sections. IThe 2D sections, especially that candy-themed level, has the weakness of being completely abstract, there are some fun ideas in there (like bouncing on the truffles) but without an...

Re: Sonic Lost World - Nintendo Exclusive
Most entries in the Sonic series have had weak/repetitive finales. The final bosses are usually lesser rehashes of Sonic 2's giant Eggman robot, Doomsday Zone or Perfect Chaos. They were all excellent the first time, but not the second, let alone fifth time around. I thought Sonic Colours' final bos...

Re: Sonic Lost World - Nintendo Exclusive
The parkour system sounds very much like the way Link would run up and climb walls in Skyward Sword, presumably without tiring after five seconds. I can imagine this working well. I'm glad the Wisp powers are coming back, but I'm very sceptical about the touch screen controls - drawing the player's ...

Re: Sonic ..Excursion?
I still love Sonic Colours, it was the purest platformer game in the series since Sonic 3 & Knuckles. The Wisp power up system added a lot of freedom to the usual Sonic experience, and encouraged (but rarely forced) you to slow down and interact with the environment in new ways. I even liked the sho...

Re: Sonic ..Excursion?
Sonic Adventure 2 had tighter, more precise controls than SA1 and was less glitchy. I think the scoring and ranking system added a whole lot of replayability as well, but I always was a huge fan of NiGHTS. Unfortunately the physics still weren't quite there (the pipe sections in Pyramid Cave were ba...
