Re: Post your artwork (56k warning)

This is an insider joke for those who have played or at least know Ygddra Union. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3004594/Nietzschenietzsche.png Explanation: In Yggdra Union (and its spinoff Yggdra Unison), one of the main characters is a 12 year old, cute mermaid (or “Undine” as per the franchise's canon, h...

Re: London becomes burning hellhole

…pfffff: RABAT (Reuters) - Libyan state television on Thursday said Prime Minister David Cameron was using "Irish and Scottish mercenaries" to tame riots in England. "The rebels of Britain approach Liverpool in hit-and-run battles with Cameron's brigades and mercenaries from Ireland and Scotland. Go...

Re: London becomes burning hellhole

What violent repression and what peaceful demonstrations? Unless I've missed something big, the main issue is that the police can't/aren't doing much about the violent riots. Or am I missing some more irony here? The joke is that when the rebels in Libya suddenly broke into government arms depots, ...

Re: London becomes burning hellhole

Given that the protest began with an incident of police brutality, they're keen not to come off as too heavy-handed, as all hell could have potentially broken loose. Hell has not broken loose already? http://edition.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/europe/08/10/uk.riots.international.view/index.html?hpt=hp_t2 [A...

Re: London becomes burning hellhole

I am mostly shocked by the British police's idleness in face of such chaos though. Its presence has been thin and its response slow and ineffective; how is it even possible that the situation could escalate like this in the first place? Here in Germany they would have been pushed back and rounded up...

Re: London becomes burning hellhole

My guess would be that it's primarily young people dissatisfied with their low social standing and lack of success in life* venting their built-up frustration by smashing stuff at the first opportunity. Because clearly educating themselves via books or internet to improve their chances, or seeking a...

Re: Sonic Generations

The double jump is also really weird--Sonic has never needed on before G-Sonic would be even less playable (what?) without the double jump. And it just felt great in Sonic R! I was disappointed by Sonic Colours as well, but at the same time I'm also hesitant to speak out against it because the spir...

Re: Sonic Generations

I would not really miss a Classic Knuckles, as he underwent the smallest design changes between the Saturn era and Sonic Adventure. Other than his shoes and his pupils, his looks remained largely the same. Classic Amy on the other hand I wish to see return no matter what. o n o Also, screens of Mode...

Re: Sonic Generations

I'm not sure if I approve of all of the liberties they took with Stardust Speedway (the part within a building/complex with the lot of vents in particular, as well as the absence of the iconic Eggman statue in the shots available, not to mention the doctor himself) but I must admit that all in all, ...

Re: Guess the Sonic Generations Stages

While the US soundtrack has a lot of superior tracks (like Tidal Tempest), I really think that there just isn't any comparison when it comes to Stardust Speedway. The US version just doesn't feel iconic at all. Objection! Tidal Tempest is one of the few tracks where I would consider both soundtrack...

Re: What are you playing today?

Having somewhat peculiar tastes (in case you didn't notice yet!), so far almost nothing of what has been on sale on Steam for the past week has caught my interest. And what actually did, like Assassin's Creed, I knew to be available on console as well, which is still my preferred platform. However, ...

Re: So... Portal 2

Team Fortress 2 and the two Left 4 Dead games. Don't bother with Half-Life 2, though. It's dull and boring, not knowing whether it should depress with vast, empty stretches of generic, gritty environment or rather try anf fail to build up excitement with shootouts and enemies when it autosaves every...

Re: Sonic the Pagemaster 3

"The Sorrows of Young Shadow"? Is that your guess for Iizuka's SA 3 subtitle? Nay, the new entry in the storybook series. (For those unenlightened, „Die Leiden des jungen Werther“/“The sorrows of young Werther” was and is an inexplicably popular and overrated book by Goethe, which details obnoxious...

The bubble barrier in generally seems very flawed. Sonic practically floats after bouncing once, and a friend noted that you bounce through enemies and not off them.

Oh yeah, I remember that post now. Regarding PPA's post, I must point out that Aqua Planet Zone also has different music (though only slightly), which nobody ever seems to remember. Oh, I did. I just thought it wasn't noteworthy, especially since I actually prefer the less complex but as a result a...
