Re: Ever wonder what Sonic's singing voice would sound like?
Okay, this is only sort of tangentially related, but it was far too surreal an experience for me not to want to post it here. I just loaded up a VOD for the World Cyber Games Starcraft 2 finals in Korea, and the incidental intro music being used was... well, listen yourself . I did quite the double-...

Re: Ever wonder what Sonic's singing voice would sound like?
Yeah, it's very clearly "Leather and lace, gets him horny". It's like the only clear lyric out of that segment to my ears, haha.

Re: Ever wonder what Sonic's singing voice would sound like?
Neo, you have done a far better job of figuring out what those lyrics were than I've ever managed. (unless you just nabbed them from some lyrics site) I actually always preferred the SA2 version of It Doesn't Matter, which I know is an unpopular opinion, though I can't really listen to any of that s...

Re: Don't step in the Pharaoh
I think a 1-10 scale is the maximum anyone would ever need, but I also like the idea of doing away with a numerical system entirely and just ending reviews with a very short summary of the strengths and weaknesses of the title (maybe two, one a short sentence, another just a few words). I don't know...

Re: What are you playing today?
I'm playing Half-Life 2 now. It's really good! Apart from the awesome set pieces and the way it develops its narrative, I love how tactile the world feels (being able to pick stuff up and move it around in an intuitive way, the way Gordon's crowbar-swing changes to a blunt thrust if he's actually hi...

Re: What are you playing today?
Wow, that sounds like living the fucking dream to me! I can't imagine buying something that takes up so much space; I still haven't figured out a good way to keep the original Fleetway pages I bought off Nigel Dobbyn at Summer of Sonic like two years ago (they're still sitting on top of my spare bed...

Re: What are you playing today?
I just finished Half-Life. Like, the original Half-Life.
It was pretty good. Headcrabs suddenly jumping out of dark corners when I'm not expecting it can eat my piss. I'll probably continue with Half-Life 2 soon.

Yeah of course, I'm not speaking to criticise Nakamura's skills, I just don't think the tracks are listenable.

Yyyyyyyeeeeah I have to agree with Wombatwarlord here. These sound bad. They have some historical value but the instrumentation is altogether worse than the Mega Drive's own.

Re: Sega release trailer for.. Sonic CD? What?
Bad sound quality, unskippable time warp, clear water in Tidal Tempest, Special Stages go twice as fast as normal..and the U.S. soundtrack, too. Oh yeah, I'd forgotten about the water. Didn't know about the sound quality or unskippable time warp though. Given how agonisingly slow I found the specia...

Re: Sonic Generations
Given how they've been slipping in references to other levels in the ones they've done already, that actually wouldn't be so unlikely.
If it did happen I'd demand a new rendition of Be Cool, Be Wild and Be Groovy

Fuck all those ideas, I want some Game Gear levels.
(mostly because I think a modern remix of the Underground Zone or Scrambled Egg Zone theme would be awesome)

Re: Sega release trailer for.. Sonic CD? What?
Why this matters even if it's just optional, I shall try to use an analogy to explain: Imagine you have a girlfriend whom you dearly love (a bit exaggerated an analogy, but bear with me). You don't see each other for a while, but as you meet her again, you discover that she secretly underwent plas...

Re: Egooraptor's Chaotix
I'd seen the Castlevania one before and found it very interesting, even though the only Castlevanias I've played were the N64 one and some brief dabbling with one on the SNES. That Megaman episode is excellent, too. His thoughts really click for me.

So wait, they make the cases and then spend effort punching holes in them? Or are they actually made with the holes which would probably involve a more complicated moulding process? Either way it doesn't sound cheaper to me...

Re: Dumbest animal in Japan
I tried a demo of this at the London Expo last weekend, and given that I've been working on a 3D film for the last few months it was interesting to see how they handled some aspects of the 3D (I haven't really played any other 3DS games). In the level I played they had some platforms protruding from...

Re: So I'm an ambassador now
I'll chime in and say that I am also obsessive about things being in the correct aspect ratio. Playing old PC games is a pain in the ass, because AMD's graphics card drivers have a stupid bug (or an oversight) where the "Maintain aspect ratio" option is greyed out unless you change your desktop reso...

Holy dicks those music samples are making me feel something that resembles joy I think.
I feel like not watching that big Youtube spoilers video. I think the time has finally come for me to enter the current console generation and I intend to actually enjoy this game come what may.

I hope your sister is young because that's quite a silly way to criticise a game.

It's the elemental beast that is the big bad in this game. He's responsible for all the time travel problems.
