"This idea really turns me on that there's a family that's a force to be reckoned with in the world of international art and antiquities ... [a family] that deals with heads of state and heads of museums and metes out justice." Such as Robert de Niro as Nate's dad and Joe Pesci as his uncle. ( Sour...

Mine was pretty good. The trick, I think, is to not be with the family.

Thanks! I had not mentioned them, I guess because I didn't feel they were that good immediately after making and uploading them. (And, of course, I'm slightly intimidated by your and Esrever's more professional stuff.) I like them better now, but Jungle Book in particular could still use a lot of wo...

If you ever want to reduce a grown adult to a blubbering bag of tears, tell them that all the toys die in this one. The arc of the victim's emotions leading into and past that scene is a strong representation of human beauty. If you're, y'know, evil.

That fanfic was fun. It dragged a bit once I realized the whole thing was just them walking and moping, but the atmosphere -- the most important aspect of an apocalyptic piece, I think -- made it worth the read.

Having watched a significant amount of The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh with a younger sibling, I'm pretty burnt out on both the silly and the old. The fact that there have been a number of movies, both theater releases and TV-movies, also contributes to my opinion that Pooh's seen his day. (Al...

Just 'cause nothing's been added to the Abyss for an ice age doesn't mean we've all forgotten about it! I beat Vanquish about a week ago, and then I beat it again. Not very long! It was good, stupid fun -- basically Gears on speed. I think the best feature was the quality of Burns' one liners. For e...

Have you played God of War? It's really frighteningly similar. I mean, there are GoW clones, but, based on the demo, this is just the game reskinned.

I just happened to start up Demon's Souls again a few days ago, and, behold, they're running a Pure White/Black World Tendency event this month! The pure white runs until the 18th, then it's pure black for the rest of the month. I love this game, but it was really hard to get back into. It's the kin...

I've been having a difficult time articulating what exactly bugs me about shooting guys in that game. The best I can come up with is that it feels like a shooting gallery. In other shooters -- good ones, at least -- I feel more involved with my opponents. In RDR, they are just target practice. That ...

RDR is the only game I can think of in which shooting people is boring. Unfortunately, that's eighty percent of the game. I've actually gone out of my way trying NOT to shoot people just to make things more interesting, but it didn't help much. My favorite missions were the wrangling bits, especiall...

I guess I should include my standard disclaimer that I've never actually played a Phantasy Star game, y'know, online . But yeah, except for the combat, single-player PSU was awful. I am actually planning on picking up PSP2 for the free online, but I don't plan on ever playing that game by myself, es...

Boy, hearing that song makes me all kinds of delighted. This could really go either way though. With luck, it'll be more PSO, but I'm afraid of them using ... well, just about anything from PSU: story, mission structure, character and location design, those robot companions that weren't Mags ... the...

Worth mentioning is that the Japanese subtitle writer for the LotR films chose to use katakana for most of the characters' names, even those that had been translated into kanji in the book. She did this because she though the archaic-looking kanji wouldn't be understood or be appealing to the genera...

Then you would have to consider why it was changed in the first place. I can think of only 3 reasons: 1) Someone thought it was too British for the target audience so they decided to Americanize it. Which is a slap in the face to the audience. 2) Someone thought he could do a better job than Tolkie...

Similar experience -- I was big into Archie Sonic after playing Sonic 3 at a neighbor's. Wasn't allowed a home console as a kid, so the Dreamcast was my first Sega system. I'd been playing those Sega PC ports for a while, though, so I got to play most of the Genesis and Saturn Sonics. I only played ...
