Didn't even get an official announcement, but the game is out now on Android in some territories. Apparently, it costs some money up front this time around.

From a purely aesthetic standpoint, it's ages behind the original.

When you google "Sonic the Hedgehog", the sidebar thingy has a little Sonic 1 sprite on it that you can click on. It shows the spinning animation and plays the jump sound effect.

I think it's really telling that not a single screenshot in that video features either Sonic. If the Forces logo didn't appear at the beginning and end, I'd think this was a completely unrelated game. I can't say I'm a fan of the ultra-rounded style that every American cartoonist seems to be using these days, but the characters look and move wonderfully. Also, Past Stardust Speedway!

All of the OC models in Forces look exactly like the background characters in Boom. Maybe that's what inspired the character creator?

I'd chalk the non-Sonic coloured irises up to artist inconsistency, which STC was rife with. They certainly never addressed it in any capacity in the story.
