Re: New Sonic game for 2015

How is this a good thing? The series' quality peaked out twenty years ago. shrug. I enjoyed Colors and Generations enough to feel like there's some worth in the modern brand. My god were the years from SA2 through Unleashed painful though. I guess I'd rather have crap games than no games at all. Id...

Re: New Sonic game for 2015

I never thought I'd see smash brothers compared to soul caliber as if they were remotely similar games. However, as not to beat a dead horse I won't comment on that. What I would like to comment on is the whole "who should develop sonic if not Sega" business. I used to think the franchise would be b...

http://www.dualshockers.com/2014/11/01/sega-restructuring-game-business-focusing-on-online-games-following-soft-demand-for-packaged-titles/ Did I mention, "karma"? the demand for low quality packaged titles has been and will always be low. I wish they would stop trying to pin their failures on the ...

Re: New Sonic Adventure Album

"oops didn't catch that last part of what you said, Maria lol." I am compelled to point out that situation was implied (or accepted) to have been caused by Gerald tampering with Shadow's memories, hence Amy's moving speech overriding Gerald's plan, and Shadow remembering who he truly was. ........ ...

Re: We few, we happy, we Smash Bros. in arms.

I'm a lot more used to the controls now and am enjoying myself a lot. However, has anyone played an online match that didn't have crippling lag? This is a pretty serious problem given the somewhat isolated nature of this version of the game. Also I echo the sentiments above me that the game seems to...

Re: New Sonic Adventure Album

I just don't think cheese alone can redeem a song (I think I've written about this before). Unknown to M.E. isn't a song I enjoy on any level. It's not particularly clever or catchy. It just grates (and he does chuckle, dammit). Compare it to Right Said Fred's Wonderman as a song that does silly to...

Re: New Sonic Adventure Album

They're just terrible power ballads. How can one man alone have such bad taste. I blame my having listened to these tracks on repeat one too many times as a kid. They're just so annoying to me now. I am curious what you'd define as a "good" power ballad. Is there such a thing? Nope. I'm super glad ...

Here I come Rougher than the rest of them The best of them Tougher than leather They call me Knuckles Unlike Sonic I don't chuckle I'd rather flex my muscles Granted, some of them are fine. But there's nothing tongue in cheek or funny about Open Your Heart and It Doesn't Matter. They're just terrib...

Re: New Sonic Adventure Album

Oh don't get me wrong, I love the SA1 level music and instrumental business. The dawn segment of Speed Highway and the sax portion of Ice Cap are brilliant. It's the vocal songs I can't stand. Songs like "Sonic Boom" and "Super Sonic Racing" are simple and light hearted enough for me to accept. I th...

Re: We few, we happy, we Smash Bros. in arms.

Wonder of wonders I was able to get a code from one of my friends. Anyone else have it and have any thoughts or impression. My initial thought is that the controls are pretty goddamn awful. I'm almost positive. the game is giving me carpal tunnel.

Re: New Sonic Adventure Album

Im at a point in my life where I can't stand any of these songs. The guitar shredding nature of this soundtrack is obnoxious and completely dated in the most embarrassing way. I never want to hear "Escape from the city" or "live and learn" again.

And just like that I've gone full curmudgeon.

I have actually seen people complain about the price or Link's inclusion.

They can kindly fuck off. This shit is awesome.

Re: New Sonic game for 2015

The lack of redesigns for Shadow and Metal Sonic create the impression that they were forced into the game against the wishes of the development team. I can almost guarantee you this is what happened. But in a bizarre twist of fate I think it was SoJ that demanded them in. I'm pretty sure BRB is co...

Re: Interesting Sonic Team interviews

Sonic displays his cool 'tude perfectly, but when things get serious he dials into an appropriately serious mode, with just enough levity I'm not about to pick apart your whole post, but I take enough umbrage that Sonic has been characterized adequately. Sonic is a competent, determined little imp....

Re: Interesting Sonic Team interviews

Regardless of who the writer was, it's ultimately down to the director/producer to make final decisions. Takeshi Iizuka was still responsible for quality control as far as Sa1/2/Shadow are concerned. If the story sucks, the ball is in his court to demand changes.

Re: We few, we happy, we Smash Bros. in arms.

If you didn't catch the 3DS version tournament at Comic-con, it was best described as Bowser: The Game. There's buffing an ineffective character, and then there's making him the new Metaknight :( (above gif from the grand finals) Wonder if the tiny stage size in general on the 3ds has anything to d...

Re: New Sonic game for 2015

THAT SAID. I can't help but notice that only 3 of these characters are ladies and they are aaaallll the same colour. (Pastel violet, the new pink.) So, uh, more variety in some ways than others. Some of these designs push outside of Sonic's usual limited design style, but Perci looks pretty much ex...

Re: New Sonic game for 2015

So I played the demo at e3 today and have some thoughts wiiu version: -camera was kind of jerky and jarring -characters wouldn't shut up but you can kind of tune it out -combat isn't so fun, context sensitive attacks based on your position would help. Or team attacks that happen when you are both wh...

Man that footage they showed looked rough. I have a hard time believing that they're going to make the Winter 2014 release date. . . As for the gameplay, it feels a little bit like a poor man's Ratchet and Clank All 4 One. Right now, the best thing I can say is that the boss animations seemed pretty...

Re: New Sonic game for 2015

While we're on the topic of Zero, one of the things I've always wondered is why in the game he never has an animal stuffed inside powering him. From a story-telling perspective, I guess it makes him a lot easier to portray as a straight-up villain; The rest of the E-series robots in that game are p...
