Re: Silver and Gold have I some
Call me a dumb little kid, but I usually lean towards the reptilian/dinosaur-y things when it comes to Pokemon designs. Charmander, Totodile, and Treeko were starter picks for me. I don't mind that they aren't ALL super magical unique creatures, considering some sorta just fill in the animal equival...

Re: Newbie Here
Their odd movement seems to make them look more like puppets than generic CG, which I kind of appreciate. Pretty satisfying renditions, I'd say. Anyway, there should be plenty of 2D animation for other videos if those teasers are any indication. I'm stoked for Plastic Beach.

Re: Sega announces Sonic & SEGA All-Star Racing
Nothing really. Just that the Olympic games had some stages ranging from S&K's Sky Sanctuary to SA2's Radical Highway, and even had a "Sonic on Ice" segment that had references to many games in the franchise, which is honestly more than I expected them to do with such a game. All-Stars Racing on the...

Re: Sega announces Sonic & SEGA All-Star Racing
Heroes is also the game with the best median art style; New enough to be part of the post SA games and retro-looking enough to make casual older fans happy. I can see their reasoning. Even so, when a Winter Olympic game provides a broader spectrum of Sonic fan service than a game that should be a Se...

Re: Can I Show yous my Pokemon for the Fifth Tiem?
I actually enjoy most of the designs, and thought the 4th generation had some of the best so far. There were some more complex designs that still felt organic and likable. While every game probably has a lame one or two(thusly why I don't feel like jumping to the defense or the original pokes Zeta c...

Re: Can I Show yous my Pokemon for the Fifth Tiem?
I wouldn't mind if they had just a few legendaries(at least as few as Gen I) and pumped up the number of usable non-legend Pokemon. Shoot, make most of them event gifts and make them even less important! They need to find some sort of use for them anyway... at least a special Battle Frontier cup or ...

Re: All-new 2D Sonic rolling out in 2010
Huh. I'm not sure if I should even bother with an opinion since all of that trailer might be faked. Wow, he looks... exactly like the modern Sonic. I could have sworn there was the promise of a redesign. No kidding. That model looks like it was ripped straight from the Mario & Sonic games. I actuall...

Re: Sonic Critique
Yeah, the concept does lose more functional use the more I think about it. Ah well, just an idea. Like I said, those other things(rolling and jumping controls) are spot-on, and it's sort of amazing that they didn't try that the first time 'round.

Re: Sonic Critique
All I really remember about the somersault is doing that cool flip jump in the middle of it. I always wanted to get some extra points for linking that to a rail or something. Mm, personally I'd map "duck" to a trigger primarily. That way I could have a truly one-face-button-based gameplay. It's pret...

Re: All-new 2D Sonic rolling out in 2010
Adventure 2 had animals in all of the actual badnicks. G.U.N. bots had the Chaos Drives. They were far more frequent though. I'd never seen that Sonic Jam art. Fantastic. I truly miss those insane poses. Makes me understand why they did the character redesign later though. It's just too extreme for ...

Re: Sonic Critique
Ever since SA2, I've thought 3D Sonic could afford to have a dedicated "Tricks" button. Instead of all the auto-pilot swinging, grinding, grabbing, and wall-running, a button you could hit to do some well timed score-increasing new-path-opening stunts. It could open Sonic to some parkour/extreme spo...

Re: SEGA's Leak of the Month
I took that initial screen shot as a sign they might be coding some wireless Sonic-and-Tails style 2- player in there, with any characters you like. An idea I wouldn't mind, if well implemented, even if it doesn't make any damned sense to the story scenes(Knuckles helping to fight himself? lol). But...

Re: Concept Artwork For "Epic Mickey" from Warren Spector
Looking at this new Epic Mickey stuff feels kinda like the N64 days of looking at early screenshots of a game that end up looking almost nothing like the finished product. Even without the old concept art in mind it looks and feels that way. They've still got a year of development time, don't they? ...

Ha! I actually made that topic about the subject way, way back when. The image is gone though sadly. I'm not sure if I still have it anymore. A shame, because it was hilarious. The page had pictures of Professor Ochanomizu jamming some sort giant syringe thing up Astro's metal ass and explained it l...

DSi LL... What? Is it something engrish-y like Large Large or Double Large? I can understand the European change to XL instead, but I'm kind of hoping they keep it LL for American release. "DSi Livin' Large" just has too much marketing potential. Honestly though, I might get it for my Mom. She enjoy...

Wow. After years of anal franchise control practices, Disney's just letting someone go to town. I don't know if that's good or bad, but it's certainly interesting.

Re: Silver and Gold have I some
Gamefreak is being remarkably awesome about this. I was totally ready to hear there would be some kind of strange Aminity Square concession due to only having made the sprites for certain Pokemon("Pikachu? Dawwww cute! Come on in! Pichu... no. That sucker is uglysauce."), but lo and behold even the ...

Re: Silver and Gold have I some
I don't really see how the original Crystal design is "too out there". The new one is a lot weirder to me, even with more pedestrian brown hair. Kind of like they gave a Mario-girl cosplayer some Pokeballs. Gold looks alright. I can see that they took the same approach as the Red redesign and tighte...

Yeah, I passed it up because the visual style as well, but the content I've seen in this thread has sparked my interest. Lord, that fight scene Pepperidge posted was deserving of a much larger budget than they're working with. For a western Saturday Morning cartoon, that was a sophisticated idea for...

Re: Silver and Gold have I some
I wouldn't put a Ruby/Sapphire remake past them, but with Gold/Silver there is the issue of needing games outside of the portables for Johto Pokes, and the older GB games being technologically incompatible with newer ones. With the DSi killing GBA compatibility though, they may have another excuse. ...

Re: Sonic Unleashed?
Mazuri is probably my favorite level design, what with it's large tree where the only penalty for falling was going around again, adding more time. Actually very similar to Twinkle Park in that way. It's true that the regular Sonic levels have flaws, but I think it would take a whole game full of th...
