Re: Sonic ..Excursion?

Emerald hunting was more fun in Sonic Adventure 1 because the levels were more compact and they told you where each shard was, instead of forcing you to do it one at a time over levels that can take you 15-25 minutes to complete if unfamiliar with the level. I remember taking 35 minutes to beat Dea...

Re: Sonic ..Excursion?

Who wants to play a 3d action game where camera control is constantly yanked out of your hands? Player-controlled cameras in video games are a brace. They're an extra barrier to full, immersive, intuitive control of your character, which should feel as a direct extension of your body. Instead, givi...

Re: Sonic ..Excursion?

What's that supposed to mean? The Adventure games are little more than a couple of sub-par(and even that's being pretty generous) games that have aged poorly. Colours and Generations had their issues but personally I thought they were pretty good games that were far superior to either of the Advent...

Now if there's a series I think doesn't benefit from 3D graphics, it's this one.

But hey! You can play as Umihara With Boobs and Umihara Without Boobs! And also two characters nobody's ever heard of because they just made them up for some reason. Yay.

Re: Sonic 1 and 2 getting Sonic CD style remakes

I know the project has been "public domain" up until now, but have either of you considered actually approached Sega about directly about making a commercial version? Can't speak for Tiddles, but I surely haven't! I don't think there's really a chance given the relatively dead-end nature of what we...

Re: Sonic 1 and 2 getting Sonic CD style remakes

If you haven't played it yet then personally I'd ask you to wait a bit longer for the next release. We've added all the crazy Flying Battery shenanigans with it coming after Carnival Night and everything that entails, along with a bunch of graphical tweaks and new gameplay options to boot. Only ques...

Re: Sonic 1 and 2 getting Sonic CD style remakes

Word going around on Retro is that these remakes are testing the ground for something more, people have suggested a remake of Sonic 3 or maybe a new classic Sonic game built on Taxman's Retro Engine. The remakes are probably being released on the usual digital platforms later (aka everything but Nin...

Re: Farewell, Seabelly Riverback

Woah, how have I never heard about this game? From videos it looks like playing rope-only games in Worms Armageddon/Worms World Party, and I spent probably at least two summers completely addicted to that shit. Well, I wouldn't blame you. We've only had a short-lived topic (doubt this one will fare...

Farewell, Seabelly Riverback

http://umi.agatsuma-games.jp/img/top/img1.jpg http://umi.agatsuma-games.jp/ Makes me pretty anxious since the 3DS is region-locked. And the title doesn't make any sense! Re: Heretical Inquiry

Yeah, this is probably a single byte change in the entire executable, you could easily crack open an hex editor and fix it like Sega apparently did with the spike "bug" in Mega Collection. Only reason it didn't happen is because they're Nintendo -- everyone's still going to blindly buy the same game...

Re: Heretical Inquiry

One of the cool things about not owning any Nintendo consoles in the '90s is that I'm only just catching up on stuff everybody's played for years. A few weeks ago I held a blind race of Super Mario USA with a friend of mine who's in the same situation as me, and shit was so cash. We actually both ma...

Re: Freedom Planet = Sonic + Sparkster + Gunstar Heroes?

The uncanny valley is when something looks nearly human, causing you to be hyper aware of (and creeped out by) all its imperfections. You'd use it to describe the CG people in the Polar Express, or those terrifying realistic human robots like Actroids. Not a cartoony beach-ball headed purple anime ...

Re: Freedom Planet = Sonic + Sparkster + Gunstar Heroes?

Are you sure your gut reaction is really an "uncanny valley" issue. I mean look at the art in this videogame. It's extremely unrealistic and cartoony compared to something like Blacksad and only marginally more human-esque that Sonic. But it triggers the same reaction. That's the definition of unca...

Re: Freedom Planet = Sonic + Sparkster + Gunstar Heroes?

words Look. When I say furry art makes my dick shrivel, it's not because I imagine the artist fapping all over his cartoon bat tits or something. It's because the imagery falls into an uncanny valley that makes my brain go "Woah, something's not right here." It's not a matter of acceptance or princ...

Re: Freedom Planet = Sonic + Sparkster + Gunstar Heroes?

Furry aspect? They're not that anthropomorphic. Are you also turned off by Yogi Bear or Bugs Bunny? Yogi Bear and Bugs Bunny don't have human-proportioned bodies with visible breasts, narrow waists and wide thighs, skimpy outfits and randomly pasted anime hairpieces. The only character that doesn't...

Re: Urkel to reprise the voice of Sonic in upcoming fan film

Yes, but not for that ridiculously serious take they were aiming for in this. Of all the ridiculously serious things there, I think the Robotnik was pretty ok, considering the rest was just plain awful. Why is it even live-action in the first place? An animated movie, 2D or 3D, would suit Sonic a h...

Supposedly they went with that design to make him more realistic and fitting in the real world. Well I don't know which world has hedgehogs who at a glance look like slitted paper. So? Look, I'm not insinuating anything. I love the guy and everything he does. But I just can't watch him host a seriou...

At least the monsters are finally modeled in 3d. They've resisted doing it for long enough. They didn't "resist" doing anything, they just didn't have the horsepower for it. Ho-Oh would've looked like a fucking origami peacock on the DS with approximately 12 distinct pixels for a texture. That bein...
