Re: Revenge of the nerds

Well, venturing back into thematic territory, feedback happens with audio equipment and "sonic" has an alternative dictionary definition of "the quality of sound." It's worth noting that there are seven notes in musical scale, and the visible spectrum was divided into seven colors in accordance with...

Re: Revenge of the nerds

Whatever they are, it's notable that not only are they stated to give life to all things (and through the transitive property power badniks via animals), they're also enriched by life itself, or rather its "heart." So it's in effect a positive feedback loop. No wonder they're chaotic.

And besides, we never actually see Witchcart turn anyone into stone so it could just be a bluff.

Re: Revenge of the nerds

The selfsame Sticks or an alternative continuity Sticks who has yet to appear? If the latter, it sets a precedent for canonical elements not being a two-way street... For example, Little Planet could exist in a theoretical Game Gear continuity despite having never appeared in a GG game, while conver...

So there are a few things here not mentioned in the Eurogamer write up. Such as awareness that Sega did not put effort into cultivating IPs, for better or worse.

The drive for simplicity in character design stemmed from Yasuhara, who also wrote the Mary Garnet tale.

Re: Get ready for apathy

-Sega's brining 15 classic games to the Switch e-Shop, including Phantasy star, Thunderblade and Sonic. They will be developed by M2. Why are they are still re-releasing the M2 version of Sonic, when they have the far superior Taxman/Stealth version? The remastered version was recently updated for ...

Re: Revenge of the nerds

That makes sense. Witchcart is blatantly incognita!Grimhilde/Mizrabel. And Carrotia has vaguely reminded me of Lena Hyena . Incidentally, how is Carrotia(キャロッティア) pronounced? "Care-row-she-uh" or "Carrot-ee-uh," or something else? I know Japanese letters are phonetic, but I'm entirely illiterate in ...

Re: Revenge of the nerds

I was thinking of Angel Island recently. Is there any solid evidence that it reascended in the aftermath of Adventure 1? All I can think of is in Advance 1, but the high altitude doesn't definitively imply that the whole island is supernal. What we see is a vista of what is presumably that of Angel ...

Re: Revenge of the nerds

If BD visited "Earth" millennia prior, then it's within the realm of plausibility that he left some bio-stuff behind. It's also possible that there were many mitigating factors involved such as, (1), it was damaged through the interim, (2), Black Arms' DNA isn't as hearty as Chaos's, (3), it was del...

Re: Revenge of the nerds

Is there a chronology to BD's involvement with Project Shadow? I assumed it was before the Biolizard, and the "success" of Shadow was more to do with other factors, chiefly his form, presumably derived from the Hidden Palace mural. This bears out especially if Sonic is the true Ultimate Lifeform, (p...

Re: Revenge of the nerds

So I was thinking of how Shadow and Biolizard* share their integument with the Black Arms, and how Sonic is similarly comparable to Chaos. It also occurred to me that Silver is likewise colored like Solaris (white with cyan accents), despite no indication that the former is anything besides an indir...

Re: Sonic 2018

Addendum that won't possibly fit in the edit window: Jina Ishiwatari in particular is an enigma. She's credited in all the major classic era Sonic games (excepting the Traveller's Tales and 8-bit titles). From the sound of it, she may be the series' unsung major contributor. Could she have been the ...

Since we have a clearer picture now, how about another cross-reference with the Knuckles' Chaotix credits? For "Original Character concept" we have: - Naoto Ohshima: Sonic, Eggman, Vector, Charmy* - Takashi Yuda: Knuckles - Manabu Kusunoki: Mighty, Ray For an overlap between "Original Character Conc...

Re: Sonic 2018

Well, cockatoos are a type of parrot and generally white with large flamboyant crests. But we're talking Sonic here, where color-accuracy was shot dead at the starting line. Maybe Ohshima was looking for any animals typically found in pet shops for the Sonic Band... Some "Pet Shop Boys" if you will....

He also points out that Sharps is in fact Max (and also not a chicken which we already knew.) So does this make Max the Monkey in fact Sharps the Monkey? Mach the Monkey perhaps?

Also, Max's redesign is much much better than his Archie design.

Re: Sonic 1 and 2 getting Sonic CD style remakes

https://youtu.be/DFq3iQ6wNrQ So evidently the smooth 60fps rotation in S1's Special Stage can be achieved on original hardware, suggesting the original choppy rotation was very much intentional. A lot of Tax-Stealth's alterations do come across as needlessly biased. Which may be desirable for a new ...

Am I missing something? Those are his Chaotix shoes. Do you mean what Archie gave him (which I cannot recall without a google search for what that's worth.)? And "clash"? It was the same color scheme Tails has. I'm sure the motive was to better differentiate them. Not to mention that blue and yellow...

Carnival Night Act 2 has grown on me in recent years, truly. Especially as the dread barrel is an issue no more. I looked a bit deeper into the Roland MT-32 and S&KC doesn't show up on the compatibility list. However, I came across a rip using a YPG-235 synthesizer and it certainly sounds better tha...

Apropos of nothing, I just recalled something I've been curious about. Has anyone ever thought run/record Sonic & Knuckles Collection through a Roland MT-32 ? Re: Sega Mega Drive Classics

I don't see why a 3&K remaster would have to be helmed by tax-stealth; the retro engine and physics guide are already there. The hard work is already done. Not to mention competent programmers itchy for the opportunity.

(Of course this isn't the case, but y'know)
