Re: What are you doing with your life?

Can anyone *name* any really good educational games which are good *as* educational games? I remember playing Operation Neptune when I was little, and that was a fun game, but it was just a fun game with math questions shoehorned in. I mean, I think that's pretty much the right way to do it if you ...

Re: So... anybody a fan of the heavy rain?

I never played Indigo Prophecy (I understand the American version was censored?), but I had it sitting unopened on my shelf for a while. I've been eyeing Heavy Rain, but just looking at it, my feelings are pretty ambivalent. I'm open to the idea of a game that's not really a game so much as an inte...

Re: Ristar's Game Gear Extra Levels

The extra stage is the first half of World 2. When played on a Japanese system, a cloud/beanstalk themed stage precedes the pirate ship and boss battle. You know how the boss character has different dreams that change the environment as you are fighting him? I guess this was originally the "dream" ...

Ristar's Game Gear Extra Levels

I think this may be the only place that would be any use to ask this, but I think I need help on making a US Game Gear think it's Japanese. The only reason I want to do this is I've heard word that Ristar for Game Gear has an extra level among other changes if played on a Japanese Game Gear. I don't...

Re: Concepteurs de Jeux Vidéo

You pretty much named my three favorite French designers.

I don't know if I have any others, but those three must be the best!

I like some of the Coktel Vision adventures from the early 90s though, especially the Goblins series.

Re: What are you doing with your life?

Hmm, I actually work at a small video game company in Texas (not in Austin) doing art, concept, and animation for focus group educational games that no one would ever want to play voluntarily. It's mostly 2D flash stuff. I would like to break out into commercial games soon in Austin preferably, but ...

Re: Classic NES game revived in gorgeous hand-drawn 2D animation

That sounds good and I think it's time I make the decision to buy this. I've been waiting for people to give out their opinions on this game, but it seems to have been very quietly released somehow. The only other problem is the guilt I have for never having finished the original Boy and his Blob. I...

Re: More Mario & Sonic at the Olympics?

Yeah, but Sonic couldn't turn into Super Sonic in the first game, could he? That requires a full set of seven. That seventh one was just missed by both Sonic and Eggman. I remember reading in the American manual of Sonic 1 that the Special Stages were actually prisons, presumably created by Dr. Egg...

Re: Sonic's Future Confirmed: expect more of the same

For the sake of this post, I'm going to assume that the awkward term "Modern Warfare" refers to the Sonic franchise's early drive to be edgier than its competition. As a kid, Sonic never really struck me as edgy, cool, badass or whatever, although I was aware he was marketed that way. Instead, the ...

Oops sorry, I think I saw it here first in a different thread a when it first came out but here you go: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/3769/game_design_psychology_the_full_.php On the fifth page is where he mentions Pyramid Magic. Before Sonic, I worked on things like the arcade version of Al...

Pyramid Magic?

So in that extensive interview with Hirokazu Yasuhara from a year or so ago, Hirokazu mentioned he worked on Pyramid Magic along with a few other unmentioned Sega Meganet games. Does anyone have any word exactly what he did on Pyramid Magic? I can't seem to find any credits. Did he also work on 2, 3...

Re: Sonic Adventure 2: Battle Joyride Studios figurine on eBay..

I once had an unopened Amy Rose Sonic Adventure figure (Resaurus line) that I stupidly sold on eBay for $35. It's now damn near impossible to find and probably worth more than $100 Is it? I've still get the whole set (except skiing Sonic) in still unopened packages, but I've never been able to gues...

Earthworm Jim will take a leak as one of his idle animations. I don't think it shows anything, his back is to you and I don't believe the trail of urine gets drawn, but the noise is unmistakable. Really???? I played the everloving shit out of the the first one as a kid and he definitely doesn't in ...

Re: GameTap's Sonic Retrospective

I've never understood all the hate for the U.S. Sonic video game covers. At least he still looks like his character, unlike pretty much every game that got imported from Japan to America well into the late 1990's. Yeah he looks better on the Japanese Mega Drive covers, but those "backgrounds" of ra...

Guess that means I have to pass. I made this rule for myself that I only buy action figures with articulation so as not to fill my shelves with tons of statues and crap and make my girlfriend unhappy with me.

But these are way cooler than those old Resaurus ones.

Re: Sonic Ultimate Genesis Collection for PS3/360 rumored

Seeing as how the last game they attempted to port, "Sonic Genesis," I really doubt Sonic Team will be adding any arcade, Saturn, Sega CD, or 32X ports/emulators to this collection. They just don't have those sort of skills... maybe if they let another developer take this one over as they have been ...

I really hope this gets green lit and comes out. The word of mouth concerning the first one way after release should guarantee a sequel selling very well.
