The Sonic Mania guy said there was some sort of lawsuit going on a few years ago.

Re: Sega Mega Drive Mini

Sonic 3K is presumably excluded due to those ongoing legal issues around the music we've heard about. The game hasn't been rereleased for ages.

He's been in Japan the whole time. What he used to post here he now posts on Facebook. ie, game and cereal reviews.

They weren't scrapped. I played them. They were the only good bits.

The Infinite theme is the funniest thing I've ever heard.

If this had come out when I was 14 I would have fucking hated it.

Re: Revenge of the nerds

You'd think being custodian of this one brand, he'd put more thought into this instead of contradicting himself. I think a Hyrule Historia-style delineation of what's what and the whys and wherefores is in order, but Iizuka may be savvy enough that'd require effort and integrity. But no, he clearly...

Re: SegaSonic Popcorn shop dumped

https://twitter.com/HG_101/status/695704152337465344 The plot thickens! The lyrics check out - with references to brothers "different as red and blue", and a line about moving at the speed of sound and spinning round. It makes me wonder if the game had any other music that was repurposed. That guit...

Wrote a thing

I've written a longish account of my teenage job in a shit second-hand game shop . Weird things happened there; there was a sinister cult, for example, and a bizarre war of words with another shop in the local paper, and also a hammer. The manager invited me behind the counter. It was a strange feel...

Re: Xtremely Late!

I was never too interested in this game, but it looks surprisingly faithful to the old 2D Sonics, particularly Sonic 1, with the emphasis on careful left-to-right platforming interspersed with loops, and the more abstract levels. I'm also surprised at how good the fisheye effect looks. I'm also surp...

Seeing as Sonic Adventure and Heroes are over 10 years old, wouldn't today's college student have grown up with modern Sonic. In which case, maybe the irony retro crowd is a little older than college age, now. edit: I completely misread you. edited my response so it makes a lick of sense. I've also...

Re: New Sonic game for 2015

There's a lovely bit in a Jeffrey Brown book where he brings home a new Smurfs DVD for his 3-year-old kid and the kid rejects it entirely, demanding "real Smurfs". "It's from one of the later seasons! He can tell!" Kids can tell the difference. By the time I was 8 or 9 (long into my childhood career...

Re: What are you playing today?

I think it's really weird that you can play as Lakitu in MK8 even though he's the flag guy. I know there's, like, more than one Lakitu in Mario land, but... it's just fucked up. I had an argument at work today with a guy who claimed F-Zero was really just a realistic racing sim for people who like t...

I see your point, but Double Dash already demonstrated Nintendo's willingness to stuff Mario Kart with shit redundant characters. And I ain't buyin' no toys.

Re: What are you playing today?

Believe it or not, having to buy toys to scan things that do whatever is not my wish. Is the roster actually poorer than previous Mario Karts? It seems like the same plus an gang of hateful baby characters and Koopa kids.
