Re: Sonic 2016 Rumours

...well, watching a YouTube video made me refresh my memory and realize that the giant disembodied heads were only random enemies and I never really reached the actual final boss as a kid.

Damn, that final stage was brutal. Screw that game, Wario Lands are much better.

Re: Sonic 2016 Rumours

I was thinking more along the lines of characters like Yoshi and Wario, who haven't been seen in a Mario game proper in several years (limited power-ups notwithstanding), yet are arguably more well-known for their own series. Has Wario ever been seen in a proper Mario game, though? From Mario's poi...

Re: Sonic 1 and 2 getting Sonic CD style remakes

Well, that's technically what Kinder Surprise Eggs are nowadays, right? And how they're like a banned import that can get your ass arrested if you even accidentally try to bring them into the US? Gotta say, kids in US must have enormous gaping holes where their mouths should've been to even conside...

Re: Game Music

HOLY CRAP INSTRUMENTAL GARGOYLE'S QUEST - YouTube's existence has finally been justified! (seriously this is good shit) On topic of good Game Boy music, I've loved Darkwing Duck's OST since day one. It's like the composer got ahold of the cartoon's opening theme and made a whole bunch of jazzy tunes...

Re: Sonic 1 and 2 getting Sonic CD style remakes

Notwithstanding the nostalgia value to us weaned on this version, the only tracks I'd argue are an improvement over the original are Launch Base Zone's (Though for the life of me I can't not think of the Mickey Mouse Club March theme whenever I hear it). It's shit as a final theme, yes, but if you'...

Re: Of obscure(ish) digital adventure.

Yeah, you're right, there's like "Terry Jones, Douglas Adams" underneath the title. Funnily enough, in my personal edition the cover only features DOUGLAS ADAMS in giant typeset, no mention of Terry there - so I always assumed he was just there to insert those embarrassing passages about teenage sex...

Re: Of obscure(ish) digital adventure.

Speaking of Adams, anyone else here played Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy? It makes a pretty hilarious digital novel, extremely difficult though ( ... got as far as the second "it is dark" scenario before giving up. Remember to feed the dog. ). Online version is available at http://www.douglasadam...

Re: Of obscure(ish) digital adventure.

Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup That stuff is such a dungeon master's power trip it's not even funny. It's been nasty before, but I hear they've since nerfed the player races even further. Don't be afraid to savescum to survive those elven halls or the abyss or those endgame cities of pain and randomly ge...

Re: Sweet Wheat & Sucrose Oats

So where's Gibbon? Because the other day I've dipped eight raw/dried cacao kernels in 3/4 l of boiled milk along two topped tablespoons of sugar and left it to cool overnight and it was all sorts of awesome in the morning. More sugar and some vanilin would've improved the situation further. Supermar...

Holy crap, this is like a dream game of my kid self...though later on I tended to think you should totally be Seth instead of Megaman.

I can't shake the feeling something will go very wrong here.

Re: Mice and linguistic ruin

When I was twelve or so, I'd rent and play World of Illusion with my older brother, and true to customs randomly mess up at crucial parts. The game I remember as typical 16-bit Genesis straightforward and frustrating fare, at least in co-op, though that library / candy level was pretty cool I recall...

Re: Sweet Wheat & Sucrose Oats

Milka Orange Jelly . This stuff is ludicrous. It's got way too much sugar and milk for the purist snob in me to consider "chocolate", but I can't resist it, that chemically-enhanced icing is just too good. It's got to have artificial opiates in it or some shit. I carved up 5 of these into 20 smalle...

Re: Sweet Wheat & Sucrose Oats

I'm no snob, and that Hershey's bar looks decent. What's the taste like? I wouldn't say I'm qualified enough to pass judgment on best chocolate ever , as there's a whole world of it I've yet to taste - mostly US and Venezuelan stuff. But since I love learning about my favorite foods, I do have an id...

Re: Sweet Wheat & Sucrose Oats

It is, though "cocoa content" usually accounts for both fat and powder. It it has too much powder, the bar gets brittle and oxidizes quickly. If there's too much fat, it ends up lacking both taste and theobromine, but fat has to added in order to make those high-cocoa bars stick together. You'd prob...

Re: Sonic 4 Episode 2 Not to Come until 2012

I see your point. Yeah, they've taken a single picture of a single pine tree and messed with it; it's pretty insulting (being a great fan of gymnosperm woodlands, I am desolated to point out it doesn't even look the way natural coniferous forests actually do, because judging from the shape this one ...

Re: Sonic 4 Episode 2 Not to Come until 2012

It might be the fact that it looks like they used someone's desktop background photo for the clouds and sky. Speaking of skies, Neo Aquatic Ruin seems to be set somewhere off the coast of LA where there's lots of air traffic. Maybe I would have Splash Hill's sky as my desktop BG for a couple of day...

Oil Ocean, Ice Cap, and Aquatic Ruin
Looking at the background, it looks like the snow level and the construction site level belong to the same zone. Unless there's a bunch of screenshots I haven't yet seen..?

Re: Sweet Wheat & Sucrose Oats

If by "double" they mean "half-assed traces of a heavily processed something that may at one point have originated from some portion of a cocoa bean", then it is a very good description. Imagine eating hay with a spoonfull of Nesquick. For such a great idea, it's pretty disappointing, especially wh...

Doesn't look much better in the original, honestly...the 3D model thing they've got going only makes that awkward expression stand out more. I guess the thin line of highlight looks too much like a grin or something. Oh well. Any bets on which recycled stages we'll see (as the meatier parts of Sonic...

On subject of turtle soups...happens by chance that I'm cooking dinner right now and using a local cookbook. So lemme just browse and find that turtle soup bit... ...ah, here we go (sloppy translation follows): Place a fresh, lively turtle on the kitchen desk. Heat up a fabric dryer*; as the iron is...
