Re: Science has finally answered the eternal question

Damn, I wish I was a scientist and got paid to name things after videogames. That would probably be one of the best jobs ever. I suppose it'd be great for the first month or so, and then you start pumping out shit like "Bubble Bobble X9" because after a certain point it is still a job. Very true, I...

Re: Sonic level design, a discussion.

I'd rather bottomless/spike pits be made sneaky like they were back in Mystic Cave...

Actually, more spikes around in levels would be better too, not just for the deep pits.

Re: Sonic level design, a discussion.

I think open-ended levels are a fair idea, but I can't help thinking that maybe Sonic isn't built for free roaming as well as other characters could. For example, look in Sonic Adventure and you have level segments that are recycled and maybe jigged about a little bit for other characters such as th...

Re: Smash Bros 3 Site Goes Live.

Ditto'd. Anyway, it's going to be another stage that will be "banned" in "competitive play", just one of many reasons why I will like playing on it. I have to say that it's an interesting tweak to the design, I like it.

It's promising to see some new members joining up and making intelligent posts. Are many of the old crew here though? It seems quieter than it used to be.

Re: What Sonic game is this?

Heroes was essentially a ballpool hyped up to be something much better. It was fun but definitely one for the young'uns, despite the things like Shadow's story, Metal Sonic's revival and the return of Chaotix, the game just came out too immature to take those elements overly seriously. One game that...

Nay worries. Yeah, that's seafood, but not too expensive, just Lemon Sole, citrus infused cous cous and veg ribbons, looks nice but works out about £2.50 a head. I get arty farty with food every now and then, though gig photography is still my main use of photo skills.

Re: Post your artwork (56k warning)

The coloured version looks quite good, I'm liking the composition of the background. ^_^ Anywho, depends on what you class as art, but for me this comes under it: http://photos-166.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sctm/v157/73/61/577581166/n577581166_423526_8372.jpg I'm more of a photography guy these days...

Re: What Sonic game is this?

The way I see it is pretty much as using a game as a template, in this case I'd say the Genesis Sonic the Hedgehog would be the most simple, bog-standard template while verything that follows is adapted in some way to either fit in with changes to times, gameplay, technology (moving to "true" 3d) or...

That kind of explains it, my knowledge on all things Yoshi is far from good.

That said, I's still much rather prefer Yoshi jumping into the air and shitting a huge Gigabowser sized egg onto the opponents below with the destructive power of a nuclear bomb.

The huge gap near the ending loks a bit suspicious to me, I know JK Rowling is saying this is the last book, but I bet she'll have the mini adventures, post-Voldemort, coming along not too far in the future.

Then what is the point of this thread? Neither is Yoshi's final smash awesome, I want to see more final impact moves and less transformations with all these wings, Giga Bowsers and Volt tackles flying around.

Also, wings!? Does Yoshi actually have wings in any other game?

I just prefer obscuring him up to his eyebrows, look at him upsidedown and imagine it's a cleavage. But that's just me.

I concur, Sonic Adventure felt the most "balanced", especially with the same levels being used in different ways. After that, it all went to extremes of speed and shooting.

Sega haven't really stuck to any good ideas recently. I don't mind Vectorman, on that front, but it's been one of those games that I have to play in bursts rather than continually play it. Oh, and PS2 may have had a steady stream of games, but let's not forget that most of those games were crap, for...

Yeah, the whole thing fails, miserably even. As the whole Sonic franchaise goes along I just feel older and older. I'm still playing 3/K more than any other Sonic games in my shelves, simplicity works.

I can back that up as a journalist. Nothing pisses me off more than reading a review on something that doesn't go deep and sounds really fucking generic. I try not to do that, the difference is that I don't get paid, while the people who do the whole generic parrot thing usually do.
