Re: New Sonic game for 2015
I know these are only early outlines, but given the gang's new nomadic look, I was hoping the show would focus on exploring new worlds (especially as Amy is an archaeologist). This seems to be more of that "frustrated modern life" humour that Pontac insists on putting in the games. Quite. I doubt t...

Re: New Sonic game for 2015
Looks good. A western developer, let alone one consisting of Naughty Dog presence is exciting. I might even buy it. Agreed that the changes are a little too 'safe' for the most part - I mean, they're splitting the baby in half over this so why not make it count? - but, I guess that's due to the afor...

Re: Ken Penders owns a bunch of Sonic's shitty sidekicks
No, I agree, he did create a lot of new ideas and characters over his time. I respect any author who works hard to create an interesting world and clearly cares about what they're doing. Yeah he wrote plenty of turkeys and I never liked his art, but overall it was a good run. People like to joke abo...

Re: Urkel to reprise the voice of Sonic in upcoming fan film
I recall hearing he did a note-perfect classic Sonic in the initial readings, but was asked to give a slightly different performance owing to the less cartoony nature of the film. Still, overall I think White is a champ for being willing, even enthusiastic about taking part in a fan project - I just...

I too am relieved about the the outcome, but damn those voting queues looked horrendous. I have a renewed appreciation for our silky-smooth electoral commission.

Re: Sonic 4 Episode 2 Not to Come until 2012
And once again 99% of the soundtrack is downright awful. What's the point of keeping Jun Senoue around anymore if this is what he craps out? At least don't leave him alone. The other games end up having better soundtracks when other composers get involved. As it is, I'd avoid this game simply to sav...

Re: Does this make me gay?
I couldn't tell you what it was called, so I'll take your word for it. I'm surprised you haven't seen them though, guess it isn't that common after all. This was while touring a number of small vendors near a restaurant in Nagano, incidentally; just killing time before going in to have a proper meal.

Re: Who left all these propane tanks lying around anyway?
That game probably spoiled you somewhat. I was under the impression that Noire's facial system is where like half the budget went, being an incredibly expensive and time-consuming feature which required all sorts of tricks to work right. Probably the only reason we got something like that at all is ...

Re: Incredibly mundane technical question, ver.2
Ah, pirated Dreamcast shit. I was still in school back then, but dearly wanted to get it and the shiny new Sonic game. Dad was kind of a cheapskate, so a second-hand Dreamcast (which suffered spontaneous resets later on) and some burned games he acquired somewhere are all the experience I've had fro...

Re: Slash, wheeze, slash, wheeze
Don't say that. :(
It seems inconceivable that any Wii U games worth playing wouldn't use its new controller, which is clearly not designed for heavy waggle action. Ergo, any big Wii U game will not be built around the Wiimote, only compatible with it at best. Or is that being optimistic?

Re: Slash, wheeze, slash, wheeze
I got around to finishing it near-100% the other day, so may as well give a final verdict. Most of the bases have been covered, so to sum up quickly: the dungeon design, equipment and swordplay are where it truly shines, with everything else being decidedly underwhelming. The art direction and chara...

Re: Slash, wheeze, slash, wheeze
Fi does show up an awful lot even if you don't call her though. Her text feels like it scrolls a lot slower than other NPCs for some reason. Oh hey, anyone remember the days when you could skip most nonessential dialogue by pressing B? They also removed the skip cutscene feature Twilight Princess in...

Re: Slash, wheeze, slash, wheeze
Were there any deals in the US that had the game packaged with the required Motion Plus peripheral? Just asking since there was nothing like that here, or even the attachment on its own. That would have been nice, as opposed to paying $157 (the game, and the improved remote) just to play the fucking...

I'm usually all for continuity, but I hate what passes for it in Zelda games. My sentiments pretty much echo GG!'s. It feels like the Final Fantasy approach would work better.

Re: Urkel to reprise the voice of Sonic in upcoming fan film
We could do with a few different interpretations really. Sonic used to have plenty, when he was at his peak no less. On top of that, most people took Robotnik seriously up until the early 00's - it's funny reading the old gaming magazines' impression of him in contrast to today. I don't think the mo...

I don't think this thought ever goes away, even if you're in said industry. True, but I've read more than once that if you don't draw a whole lot just for fun then you should probably think of another career. Unless I can ramp up productivity a hundred fold (and you know, cope with that let alone e...

Maintenance duties for a local college. Simple, stable, and allows me to afford anything I care to own. It would be nice to get into some sort of creative career, but I don't think I have what it takes.

I'm waiting for 1.8's proper release before jumping in again, since the pre-release buglist is rather long. The eventual mod API is another good thing on the horizon; I've seen some amazing work with shaders lately. Still, another part of me wants to just hold out for 1.9, when the "Adventure Update...

That boss had the dreaded Egg Pawn Grin(tm)? The neck ring didn't look like a mouth to me. After checking the original sprite, now I can't unsee it.
