Re: Ken Penders owns a bunch of Sonic's shitty sidekicks
I was under the impression that STC Online was entirely fan operated because there was already no interest in bringing it back for real. Not true? Do they pay their artists and writers? I assumed they were working for free! It's fan made, but before it was put out, there was a stronger possibility ...

Re: Ken Penders owns a bunch of Sonic's shitty sidekicks
Has Ken Penders heard of fanfiction.net? Can we have Sonic the Comic back, please? Is the online version still running? I always thought, while well-meaning, the new comics weren't as good as their offline counterparts and have essentially killed off any interest in bringing it back for real. But go...

Re: Can I Show yous my Pokemon for the Fifth Tiem?
Were doubles really popular enough to justify triples? I was told that double battles in the metagame are characterised by a lack of switching and very quick victories. I could see a lot of triples ending in 2-3 turns. I wonder what would happen if you expanded the team size to above 6. I know that ...

Re: Super Sonic Galaxy
I'd like to see a return of Naganuma. His music was kind of trashy, but in a fun way, that was immeseasurably better than the generic SRA music. I played SRA for twice as long as I played the first Rush (the first game was stolen from me), and I can't remember a single track of SRA, while I can stil...

Re: All-new 2D Sonic rolling out in 2010
It's cheating in the sense that they aren't playing the game legitimately. A person with the console and game alone couldn't practically replicate most TAS speed runs, regardless of how many hours of practice they put in. This would be a serious problem if they didn't clearly label their runs as TAS...

Re: Super Sonic Galaxy
This game looks so schizophrenic. There are encouragingly frequent moments of brilliance in the aesthetics and level design, but the rest of the time it feels like SEGA have completely missed the mark. I can hope that consistency in the level design will improve over development, but certain concept...

Re: Return of the Heroic Amputee in 2D
Was Rayman 3 really that bad? Having had no experience of it, I thought that the trailer was sort of charming. Not in an intelligent way, but it was colourful and cheesy and infinitely more encouraging than my experience of Raving Rabbids. And Rayman 2 was great. I liked the first game too, and even...

I like how they felt the need to add the song title and artist over the CGI.

Re: Members save an additional 10%
Speed running can be cool if it gets you to think about obstacles in a different way. I like finding clever ways of clearing a level that I might not have considered if I wasn't under time pressure. Sadly, they're usually just memorisation and/or reflex tests, and the same thing with the 1-HP comets...

Re: Defining abstract concepts in video games
It doesn't really make any more sense to me than the rubber band. I mean, I appreciate the idea of an input (twisting a key/tapping a button) resulting in movement. But only on the same level as any other basic interaction (e.g. press a button and Sonic jumps) that has to be learnt - and at least wi...

Re: Defining abstract concepts in video games
There's something incredibly intuitive about the spin dash, but it's impossible to describe in a way that makes sense. All logic says that, whatever Sonic is doing in the Spin Dash, it shouldn't be possible to do it while stationary. I've heard people try to use the rubber band analogy, but I can't ...

Re: Confirmed: XBL and PSN get Dreamcast games
DX did more harm than solve problems so I'm not sure what you're getting at. I was under the impression that DX introduced mostly graphical glitches, and fixed a few collision detection issues. I know there were also some downright weird changes, like eye colours, Tails' mouth in the opening, and t...

Re: There Can Be Only One
The consoles of this generation are just too expensive for me at the moment. My computer, Wii, and DS (which badly needs replacement at this point) are draining all of my gaming money. This is partly because I live in the UK where everything is more expensive, but I have to say, if Sony or Microsoft...

Re: Confirmed: XBL and PSN get Dreamcast games
Will the new SA feature any of the defunct online features of the original? A fully integrated Internet mode seems like a lot to ask, but downloadable missions or achievements don't seem too out of the question? I ask because, although I hate to break this to SEGA, Sonic Adventure is actually a litt...

Re: What are you playing today?
I just played the first Doctor Who Adventure Game. It was pretty decent! It was like a bad episode of the show, but with cool minigames every 5 minutes. I am a little worried about how they're going to pad it out over 4 games, though. And how they're expecting to meet their release schedule of 3 gam...

Re: What are you playing today?
I remember my library started renting games shortly after the PlayStation launch. You had to pay an extra fee, though. I'm not sure if that's still the case, but either way, I checked every week for months and they seemed to stock every game imaginable except the ones that I wanted. Well, that or th...

Just chirping in to say that a single one of those screenshots on their own would have been about twenty times as interesting an introduction to the game than the teaser video.

I think it's admirable how much effort went into SRB2. If they haven't already, then someone should definitely hire those guys that had the stamina to milk Doom's engine for all it's worth, because the level design is actually rather good. Sadly, I hate Doom's engine with a fiery passion. I still ha...

Re:
I'm not sure if I get Crisis's point. I mean, not just the original one, but many Sonic games are quite colorful, with odd-shaped flora and blue skies and all that, and I don't deem them as pathetic attempts to impersonate anything. I think the source of confusion is the "pathetic attempt" part. It...

I use a Mac and live in Europe. I feel like I live in the gaming dark ages. I bought Braid just to give Steam for Mac a reason for being on my hard drive. It was a lot of fun! Stunningly beautiful visually, and presumably also aurally, if the sound hadn't been distorted beyond recognition by time ma...

Re: Super Sonic Galaxy
Find something more constructive to worry about now than OH NO THESE GRAPHICS AREN'T REAL/SURREAL ENOUGH, idiots. Fair enough about being judgemental of the 20 second teaser, but I thought the sur/real issue was the one thing we all agreed on. I even wrote, like, a paragraph explaining that it didn...
